Bad vertical connection inside the LCD panel.
Nothing I can do to fix it since the LCD panel is sealed.
There's a local seller letting go of a similar model laptop, but for the low low ripoff price of $240. I've spent too much money on this fucking laptop, but I know that buying a whole new system from 2019 is going to cost even more, so I guess I have little choice but to just fork out that $240 and revive this one using the LCD assembly from that one.

It works intermittently when I apply torque on the screen by flexing it. Definitely a connection failure.
Strangely enough the trackpoint on the keyboard also died, but that's an unrelated issue as it happened after the screen started doing this.
