What is the difference between centripetal acceleration and centrifugal force?
i am, slowly, every day....its an art. not a race.
centrifugal force is technically not a thing as i remember. its confused for G's because the machine spinning the things is called a centrifuge.
How high do you get before you work?
WYD IF A NIGGA BREAK INTO U HOUSE AMD STRAIGHT DOOKIE ON U
how many dicks do you suck while installing cable at the home of fat old ugly men? Average day.
If a particle is moving around in a circle and its position is given in polar coordinates as x = Rcosθ, and y = Rsinθ, where R is the radius of the circle, and θ is in radians. From these equations how do you derive the equation for centripetal acceleration?
What is the dumbest fuckup you’ve seen another technician/client do?
Yeah the only question I have is why the fuck is my cable always tile
if you are Jewish by ethnicity, but atheist- is it still acceptable to you to keep kosher and perform other observances of Jewish identity, strictly as a way of paying homage to your people?
I see all kinds of weird shit. normally the worst is some DIY bullshit where they did a wall fish through an outside wall
get a dude out to your place to check your signal levels. its probably bad. or your box is old as fuck
not a jew, athiest white man
I dont. because i get tested commonly
How big is your dick, if you don't mind?
The worst thing i have seen though is a trailer that shouldnt be lived in. could see the structure(no inner walls) and there were stacks and stacks of shit..and cats everywhere. i think the stacks of shit were holding the place up.
6.5 inches by my guess? no, no pics.
Summerfag and a nigger detected. Kys
I had a guy who mounted his own satellite once using a mini TV and a coax cable. It looked like shit but it worked
force and acceleration are different things
BET HE DONT EBEN LIE DAH DOOK DOOKS
yeah, coax will send whatever you put through it normally.
No I was talking about height, like how high are the poles you climb?
LOL my bad, I am lucky to live in an area with few poles. when i have to climb them(like 1-2x a week) they are approx 24-25 ft.
Holy living fuck. I cleaned out a house like that. A buddy of mine had some relatives that got on drugs and basically disowned by the rest of the extended family. One day they just up and fucked off, so the house was going to be sold (the junkie guy’s dad was the mortgage co-signer)
Fucking place was essentially tiled with dog turds and empty cigarette packs. Trash mountains all over the place. Gnarliest job I’d ever dealt with in my life, but getting 2 bills, cigarettes, beer and pizza for 2 nights’ work isn’t awful, I suppose.
i say burn it to the ground and start over.
Damn that sounds scary, you should smoke weed first.
Can you terminate fiber?
If the place burnt down, they’d have to evacuate the next 3 towns over. That’s how filthy it was.
nah, first time its scary, after that its whatever.
obviously, sex with clients?
How long have you known you were gay?
as far as i am aware. no. but while i have been trained to do fiber work...we DONT terminate it..we just run it from A-B and say fuck it.
No. I'm straight, and while i have been propositioned once, I wont chance it. I need the job more than i need the ass.
Women are a hazard.
I see no downside to this....
Confirmed virgin basement dweller
I wish, it would likely be cheaper.
When did you decide to just give up?
I havent? the job isnt all that bad.
What's your training? I've had techs from cable companies and they're slow af
then its not like the movies, haha
before this, i hadnt had any training. Its all OJT in the field. I served for 8 years with the army though..so maybe thats a difference? How do you mean they are slow as fuck.
LOL no. i could see it being a thing with something expensive..like plumbing or electrical..but our shits not that bad pricing wise
Twisted pair is better then coax fight me
t. Telephone cable technician
Worst job ever, quit after 3 years and joined a real union
filthy phone tech...GET OUT OF HERE SCUM!!!
They kept looking at their manuals, seemed unprepared. Hoping it's just Time Warner
union jobs will definitely pay better! but without any sort of qualifications this pays pretty good.
You're just an installer then. You can't be considered a cable tech until you've terminated fiber in the field.
Dude might have been new. I think the complaint now is "they are always looking at their fucking phone!" when everything is on the damn thing.
as far as the company i work with goes, we dont do that. there isnt a reason to most times..we hook it to the fiber tap, to hook the other end to the converter to radio. we move on.
Why is your ladder on the phone span instead of the cable span ;like it's supposed to be ?
not me, stock image from google images.
What company?
I'm a contractor for Comcast.
>filthy contractor or slave cable tech thinks he can tell a unionized phone tech what to do
Dont let me see you on my span or kneeling against my ped or ill tell your boss
Lmao i was right
He isn't even a real tech
A. I havent told anyone to do anything.
B. I dont fuck with phone lines unless i absolutely HAVE to. calm your tits.
thats cool. you know that most of the cable companies contract out the majority of their work right?
>contractor cant take the bantz
Typical contractor
lol, not mad. sarcasm is tough to read through text.
Do you go up the towers for cabling jobs? If so, why are you fucks so loud at 3am, can't you just shut up and install the fucking cable?
Yes because cable techs didint unionize and the ones that did scabed or got fired and came back as contractors and worked for less like the cable company wanted
I am residential installation. I start @ 8 and end at sun down...so no. thats not me, fuck those guys though.
Probably. its kinda tough to unionize these days though. unless you have a skill backed by paper.
No him but the phone tech but screw your sleep i gotta job to do im ganna keep my genset and compressor on if i cant sleep neither will you
Thats how i feel when people are over my shoulder or changing their minds while i'm trying to work.
Cause alot of unions are shit and won't stand up to coms companies anymore the unions know that if people are fired theres tons of ununionized contracts begging to work for half what a tech makes
Pro tip: become a real tech contracting is cucking techs and yourself and your putting yourself in a volatile spot
How much did you make when you first started.
Are you in a Union?
How much do you make now?
What certs did you need to get before landing the job?
What certs did you get after landing the job?
The problem i have is that if i do that..i take a pay cut.
You paid per job or hourly
Its piecework..so..it varies, started at probably $13 an hour cause i sucked, now i probably make $20-$22.
No not a unon
I was offered this job based on my resume containing no prior cable knowledge..
I'm certified to install security systems. otherwise, nothing.
Im about to spend 17k on lineman school. I'll make 20/h for a while and get a raise every 1,000 hours for 4 years roughly. Eventually my income a year with ovetime will be 100k or better. Am i doing it right?
Does finding mummified pets still mess with you? Do you hate these huge fuck-you properties, where you just HAVE to have a repeater installed just to get that tiny bit of signal? Do you hate that doctors seem to, without fail, have the shittiest coal-burning busted ass computer, then think that high speed internet is going to make their computer faster? You ever had a weird, I need to get the fuck out of this place feeling at someone's house?
I recall crawling through someone's crawlspace only to turn a corner and be face to face with a dead poss, looking like it died terrified, shit stuck w/ me for years. One sub I had left me to my work, I had to pull some line through their wall so I was pretty distracted. Their 8 y/o walked in all "hi mister!" I said "oh, hey." still taking care of shit. I look up over the tv and that kid had stripped every scrap of clothes off, I got up and told the guy that I had to go take care of some line-work, then dipped out.
By comparison to me? i would assume so. but i dont know wtf school that even is.
>I was offered this job based on my resume containing no prior cable knowledge..
What did your resume have in it that helped you get that particular job?
Do you have set hours weekly?
Do you work overtime?
If so, are you forced to work overtime?
If so, how many overtime hours, on average a week do you work?
11.50
Yea
30 an hour
None i came from the 99cent store before and just kept trying took 3 applications 2 interviews for 3 positions before i got hired
Cable splicing, confined spaces, DSL installation and repair, working aloft and bucket training, trouble shooting and locating
Normally i dont have that kind of thing...i try to avoid going to those areas because fuck that. knowing your routers helps with that. the worst i have seen like i said was a mostly falling down trailer..that REALLY wanted their gig speed internet.
Phone guy btw
Im not paid hourly, so overtime doesnt apply to me, as far as i know anyway.
I work from 8 to whenever the sun goes down. so no not really. i definitely get my 40 hours though.
For the power company or for comms?
The guys i work for actually found me...i almost thought the whole thing was fake when they contacted me lol
So you work around 12 hours a day?
What is your salary?
Not salary. As i said my pay varies. i make normally between $20/hour and 22/hour depending on how busy the week is.
Are you an independent contractor or something?
How much did you make last year?
Thats why you become a tech its hourly and you start lower but will make roughly the same but wont get screwed working so much or get on with the telephone company you got comms experience but its totally different then coax but they pay alot better
Thats contracting for you especially for cable company's theyll hire anyone I know when the cabke company down here decided to bring in contractors they hired literal landscapers to do installs I would see landscaper trucks with ladders bungle corded to there cab with a spectrum magnet slapped on the side not once but many many times
I work for a company who handles the job routing and such. so no, not an independent.
I'd have to actually look/do math for that info. so no.
I want to get into welding..because it would pay more for sure. but i gotta work to pay the bills and out here from what i have seen their apprenticeships are only paying minimum wage...my wife doesnt work(because she wont!) so i will have to wait on that one.
You don't know roughly how much you made last year?
Wew
Why do we use DC for distribution and transmission again?
I keep hearing about how AC is better for mitigating losses, but whenever I look it up I hear "We use high-voltage DC to mitigate losses over long distances".
Also, how do your boots work?
I assume there's some sort of ankle support, but I've never worn a pair, so it always looks like you're just climbing from the sides of your feet and that idea makes the very uncomfortable.
I did some Disney Studio guy's house years and years ago (way WAY before Marvel merger). The guy had the guest house out front and it was like, "This is a pretty cozy looking mansion." Then as I pulled up, just, holy shit. A fucking castle (with a moat) They had underground wiring, a signal booster, and just perfect wiring. STILL the signal was ass. Had to schedule a construction crew, had to bring in the big boys. (funny story in that was that I got trapped in a secret room in that place, walking through the house, I had a WALL shut behind me, and I had to call for another tech to come open let me out.
I've given my rough hourly rate. you can do you on that one.
Just google southeast lineman school
I use the last set of combat boots from the army i have. they work by containing my feet and allowing me to walk on things i wouldnt normally be able to without hurting myself.
I've had to go get a couple people from lines, never had someone get stuck in a house though lol that sounds like a fun call.
Try to learn fiber coax and twisted pair are on there way out coax has a little more time then twisted pair but they way things are going neither is going to supply the bandwidth needed fiber splicers make around 25 iirc for entry positions and fiber will always be needed even if residential goes wireless like people predict and will look better on a resume for any comms job
are your cones out?
Not sure if i wanna work in southern company. (Alabama power georgia power or gulf power) they make hella storm money and ot from hurricanes, or move up to new england. Higher pay up there in general not as much ot
Before reading the thread I misinterpreted you as being a linesman, not a cable tech.
My mistake.
Right now, its all coax inside of peoples houses and we are attempting to ignore the phone lines in peoples houses..so that makes sense.
Yeah, but you never gave your average weekly hours, you just said 8 to sun down, which sounds ludicrous if you aren't getting overtime pay.
I DRIVE with them out my friend. they are never not out.
Hey dumbass, rf travels thru coaxial cable. Ain't no Ac radio waves.
All good. i say if it makes 6 figures like you claim and you KNOW there is work, you cant be doing the wrong thing.
Same. The guy looks like a lineman in the pic
Not talking about rf, talking about industrial and residential power lines.
I dont have any pics of me, cause i just dont take any, so i grabbed one from the web.
i do fiber cabling in aus, we do new installations for carriers/isps.
we only really do basic installations, like switches & ntu's (we do some multiplexing jpbs)
im on $32 p/h + OT.. been doing it for 3 years.
>not op
Electrician here, generally we don't use DC in the US for distribution because of the vast distances between power generation and local endpoint. We can take something on the lines at 115k Volts and send it miles and miles with little voltage loss. To do the same with DC the cables would be as large as your arm or bigger, and require many many sub stations in the middle to bring the voltage back up from voltage drop.
Your question would really be more suited for a lineman instead of myself because we're actually separate trades. For telecom a lot of their stuff is powered by DC so it makes sense to send DC voltage through those lines to power equipment in the middle, and if they need to bring the voltage back up they can just tap into the ac lines at a junction point along the route. This is also why older style phones will work if you lose power, and even in the telecom building lost power because they have DC backup power and batteries all throughout their infrastructure that isn't lost when the normal power grid goes down. DC is also commonly used for control circuits in ac and dc equipment, its more constant power. DC waveform is ----- where AC is /\/\/\. Electronics really do not like those peaks and valleys in AC.
it depends what field you want to get into.
there will always be twisted pair
why do you drill a hole in my wall, knock out power in half of my house, and then claim that it wasn't your fault and we need an electrician to fix our shit?
Yeah, because no one is willing to pay to have it removed!
en.wikipedia.org
~300km's of DC power network
Whoever did that is an idiot. Get the company name. They have a record of the job done and know who did it. tell them the issue. they are insured for that kind of thing.
Ok, I"ll have to read that further to understand why they did that other than load sharing. But I was referring to how the US does its power grid.
it's cool, this happened a while back and the company paid for the electrician bill and all that, just wanted to give some shit in the thread
lol I have seen that one a few different times. usually people who fuck up are going through the roof and either didnt make a pilot so they missed OR they didnt seal the roof correctly and caused a shit ton of water damage when it rains.
Residential as in the cable from the nodes to peoples houses interior coax and cat cables will still be around but the shift to fiber is already happening the market wants it
I would pay for the school as i know linemen make good money regardless where you live
Yes the market wants it. most equipment doesnt have the hook ups to make it a thing though, so you end up with a converter to RG6 either in the smart panel, or in the house box outside.
damn, the guy we had was just drilling into the wall to run another cable through
when the power went out he kinda sat there looking retarded for a bit, and we were like "what the fuck"
on the plus side, the electricians were cool as fuck and they installed an extra outlet where the guy fucked up at
Fuck you you low level field tech.
Inside plant master race.
Why is there never anything good on?
dude shoulda been more careful. I have been to a place or two where half the house didnt actually work..but i told them i didnt do that before i drilled
I would gladly move to the plant. sound like money.Because you're paying for cable you idiot. its all propaganda.
why are linemen all psycho fags? the rest of us do dangerous shit too, calm the fuck down
is most of the telecom cabling to premises via poles? or is it underground conduit?
Depends on your area. most of the areas i go to are underground. sometimes i get some that go from a pole to the ground, sometimes its strictly aerial. However you get your power, is how you're getting your cable.
yeah, i'm sure he learned from it so it's all cool
no clue. never worked with one. sounds liek fun.
Why didn't you become a lineman you cuck?
you involved in the proving of conduit (we call it rod & rope)
i dont mind this line of work, but the hauling side of it can suck a fat one
Weve been converting at a smart panel on the side of the house but when you can't touch what fiber can provide with copper or coax its going to happen converting it to and from optical power isnt the issue its relaying the plant
I have a family to feed and dont really have a lot of flexibility to change jobs at the second. unfortunately for me. my wife doesnt work...so once i get free of her..i will be doing a lot of changes in my life.
Lol you wanna work next 15kv everyday 30 feet in the air with 2in thick rubber gloves in the blazing Georgia heat?
The most i do with conduit in put line through it using some fish tape.
There is no comparing fiber and coax. fiber wins every time, most equipment doesnt have a hook up for it yet though.
I live in arizona. i hear the sound of money, i am in.
you wanna get down in that hole and run a bead?
yeah the hookup for fiber is the expensive part,
its great for backbone data - but for a general consumer we can get decent speeds through even twisted pair
>>decent speeds
Yeah, 15 mb/s is so good.
Cable as in TV, or lineman? What company?
Depends on area most older areas have alleys and its cheaper to attach to power then to bury it and older shit was almost exclusively aireal because paper was used as an insulator before they figured out how to make plastic insulation cheap and they had to be under air pressure and isreal tends to be a drier environment then buried
But now it depends usually when a subdivsion is made they decide how they want utilities and they usually go for buried utilities cause people dont like looking at poles
Cable as in coax. residential, as a contractor for comcast.
the small business im in we do a 'turn key' fiber install, so we commission the civil works to be done & then we haul the cable through external pits & into the customer comms room, then terminate, trace, install & test the equipment & then handover to the carrier to finalize
Does that pay decently?
Why does the captcha LOVE cross walks?!
Comparatively the cost to run fiber is on par with running coax. Rebuilding a system or building new systems gets expensive. Also training people and buying equipment to splice fiber gets pricey. Interdiction boxes need to be fitted on each home with power so the consumer pays to power their box up.
probably for self driving vehicles and other navigational AI, same reason it loves traffic lights
Why penis vagina fart fuck nigger tit?
Are they doing docsis 3.1 by you? And if so what qam?
>>reasons
Yes, Id have to look but IIRC 256 but i would have to confirm cause thats not a normal question
network engineer here. AMA.
Thanks for running cables, mr cable tech man.
Got you fam. thanks for engineering the networks so i dont have to.
for myself i'm on $32 p/h, due to get $35p/h after the financial year changes (july/august)
this is reasonable pay for a tech, but if you're more inclined for the administrative side of fiber, there's bucket loads of cash.
to get started as a contractor doing carrier installs you need an OTDR, Splicer & a BERT tester - you're looking at about AU$50K (doing it on the cheap)
there's a fuckload of money in fiber.
mediacom over here o/
Worth it.
Thats what I'm saying fiber is the future
Believe it or not you dont need more then 20mbps cable companies fooled people into thinking you need more your bottle neck for data (when there is no physical issues with the line) is usally not your dsl or cable internet speed its poorly setup Wi-Fi and or congestion and bandwidth limitations firther up the pipeline when you buy whatever speed from whoever your getting that speed from your modem or router to the isps node beyond that its whatever the isp decides
thanks for running cables.
synergy.
I tend to live in a high usage house hold. I could get by with 20mb/s but sometimes when i play a game..i want to play it in real time..not 3 seconds behind everyone else.
Lineman reporting in.
Psycho/ego bullshit is all just dick waving because of the “job danger”.
I work 4800 volts to 34,500 volts on regular basis, $52/hr with no overtime, amazing benefits...I don’t feel the need to throw that in everyone’s face though like a douche, or shit on comm guys’ work...that’s where I started, so I respect it. The job is dangerous but respect the danger and you’ll have a lot of fun doing it.
Also make a lot of money
what does your role actually entail? i deal with a few network engineers but i dunno what they're actually doing besides routing mac address & vlans.
I keep hearing more money than what i make and its making me jealous and sad.
You can run comparative speeds over coax that you do over fiber. It's all based on qam modulation. The more qams you have for upstream and downstream the more through put you have for data. Cable companies are limited in speeds because of the limited amount of qams they can fit between 5 and 850mhz. Cable companies can only operate between those frequencies. Docsis 3.1 up to quadruples the amount of qams. Right. Now if cable companies could use frequencies beyond 850mhz you can hit 10gigs download over coax.
>tfw your still doing hot melts cause your company thinks unicams are too expensive but are fine with me fucking up boxes of hot melts
you're paid well because it's not something you can sustain for a working lifetime.
just like trades here in australia, some of them are invoicing AU$850 for a days work..
Right now, they are having issues with broadcast radio. they likely arent doing it more out of fear than anything.
problem is. they havn't bonded more channels for the upstream. would be nice if they could get at that so we can have a true gig service.
In Los Angeles, it’s cost of living. Bay Area makes a little more than us because of it, other states less, and so on. Almost all make great money whenever they’re at
I do fiber optic work. Did you have a question?
it seems pretty fun and rewarding, at least looking from the outside and based on what buddies have told me.
Closest to a gig i have seen is like 850 down and about 450 up. but that was device limitation i think.
Wow you must be fun at parties kill yourself faggot
no, he was gaging to see whether i was for real or not.
Your right. It's the ingress egress issue the plant needs to be tightened up.
They have bonded more upstreams up to 32 upstream carriers for docsis 3.1
It is, you can work with (and for) assholes and it makes some days miserable, but good crews make for good work days when everyone gets along and we pump out work
yea, most likely. we now have options to test speed within the modems to get around peoples personal device limitations. so that's nice atleast.
is that shit mostly coming from the plants? are you the plant bro?
i did an install for a 10GB service the other day.
we have to run a throughput test on it for 24hrs.. the amount of things that i could needlessly download with that bandwidth.
ha! that's putting it lightly. i still drive past 800mv leaks. and keep hearing. "it's in for replacement" soon.tm
That sounds like docsis 3.0.
Its on 3.1 but thats the closest i have seen.
The amoun of things that i WOULD needlessly download with that bandwidth is absolutely nuts.
Ingress is foreign frequencies entering the plant via bad wiring in homes bad lines on the plant. Bad fittings amps etc on plant. Egress is frequencies escaping into atmosphere. FCC monitors all that. Majority of ingress problems are caused by shitty home wiring. It destroys upstream carriers.
how do you fuck up a box of these? they have to get to like 60-70 degrees c?
What would you use for a 100' drop rx 30 tx 44 at the tap and there's an amplifier?
A. Rg6 flooded
B. Rg11 aerial
C. Rg59 foil core
D. Rg11 flooded
E. A combo of rg59 and rg6 scraps barreled together flooded and aerial.
F. Lay a temp drop
G. Sit in your van after telling the sub you can't get them service and masturbate to Heather the decent looking girl in the sales department.
H. All of the above
.. pretty much fucking with VLANS. making sure things are pointed where they need to be pointing. devices get knocked off of their appropriate DNS / DHCP server, so ya gotta get em looking in the right direction. paying attention to alarms / outages and making phone calls. fucking with ACLs. Honestly just learning the shit is 100 times more difficult than the work.
what you do for a crust fam
I know on our end where it comes from. the shitty thing is that many times theres 0 to be done about it, because the company would charge for it and without putting that in for them to be charged, i dont get paid for it...and im not about to not get paid.
Sounds like similar limitations with dsl but we dont have an issue with the range itself as we run around 25khz to around 35mhz depending on what type and we use "bits" proably similar to your qams but we dont have a problem with how many we can fit its just we dont use repeaters and as you Proably know higher frequencies dont travel far and we can provide upwards of 120mbps its just for no more then 600 feet from the node and it diminishes the further you go there are dsl repeaters but Idk why we dont use them cause for dsl 80mbs vdsl bonded can't travel further than 2000 feet iirc
At least part of G for sure. but There are missing variables in that one. Assuming the drop is intact and in place you could get away with some RG6 but it wont be pretty.
what qualifications do you have?
I literally got in shit today for talking to my supervisor on the phone
Man I wish I was still at work so I could show you what ingress looks like in a head end. And how it just destroys carriers. Maybe if we start this thread again tomorrow I'll snap a bunch of pics for you guys.
why is my internet so bad?
No me fucking up the cleave or the polish
Speaking greek fam, I am an installer.
CISCO CCNA. Comptia A+ net + Sec+. working on CCNP.
rx 30?!?! that shits gettin turned over to maint asap!
and wtf would there be an amp in line with signals that hot?
E. Fk 59.
I dunno, thats a pretty open question, there are so many reasons your internet might suck dick.
Big frequency big speed but no go far dsl no repeat
Your internet sucks because you use shitty Walmart wires and splitters. You probably have a shitty linksys router and a 10/100 network card. Fuck off.
lol thanks for breaking it down to dummy level.
There's nothing missing what's the tilt at the house 32/11?
How many 4 way splitters can you put in your dickhole?
Would you rape Heather if you had to?
Leave them a telephone company door tag :^)
4 ways x 0
No i wouldnt go anywhere near heather in sales. Thats how you get accused of rape cause you looked at her.
Power lineman here shut up phone fag. Give the kid a break you bitches cant even have gaffs. Lol ladder bitch
Lol but thats the problem you can reach fiber speeds on dsl as you can with coax but it gets to a point it would be easier cheaper and better for everyone to just use fiber
Nope, the answer is kill Heather.
you like working with cisco stuff?
i hear theres bigger money in Ericson & Ceina managment
They didnt want your shitty phone service or your bad dialup. get out of here!
who said we can't have gaffs? it's just on request if we gaff.
Just fucking do it user
Bullshit. Cwa fag.
It's actually cheaper to just use coax. But cable companies can't. They can't go over 850mhz because satellite owns the next spectrum.
m.youtube.com
What’s the most fucked up thing you’ve seen on the job?
we cant have gaffs.....not that i want them. i wouldnt mind a lighter ladder though.
They're called gaffs and they're literally spikes that strap to your boots
i fucking hate cisco shit. proprietary garbage for the sake of being proprietary. however, it's their exam and you have to learn their shitty language and syntax and commands. i work with a lot of sonicwall and ubiquiti.
Climb up ten more feet and hang from those wires, and make sure you are grounded.
Bullshit CWA fag. You don't have them and remember that the poles belong to us if you don't climb like us you don't climb at all
>he still has to use gaffs
Enjoy cutting out while i just use a bucket like a smart person
A trailer..or a series of trailers attached to one another. that had no inner walls and was likely being held up by the stacks and stacks of shit inside of it..and cats...cats fuckign everywhere.
meh.. i'm about to be promoted to a bucket baby anyway. so i'm about to say goodbye to the ladders. :D
We do still have them no one uses them cause its pointless when majority of your work isnt on a pole and you can just use a bucket or a ladder
We definitely have gaffs. And I use them frequently
The women who work in my field...not that there are many, get these real light ladders..like 30 lbs. I wouldnt mind that one bit....till the wind blows while i'm on the midspan.
Yeah it suck making $200,000 a year. Lol. And remember we have buckets too. But you 18 ft daredevils are the real badasses lmfao
im confused bro, we put a heatshrink splicer protector in the bare fibre, then cleave & splice - and if it's good then you move the splice protector to over the bare fibre & then shrink it down
200k fuck dude I work in a master head end and I don't make half that.
What machine do you use. I use a fujikura f80
the old thick yellow fiberglass ones are what i have. the newer guys have the lighter red ones. i don't trust those red ones to shit. i'm 280 lbs, those fkers bend like crazy when i'm on one. i'll throw around a heavier ladder if i know it won't snap when i'm that high up.
Head end dude that's no lineman thats a glorified electrician
Bro color is its weight class your like me you have to use yellow
I'm like 165lbs. so i think the red ones could handle me. but yeah, if i was a buff boy i think i'd preferr the heavier bastards.
Your talking about fusion splice connectors im talking about 3m hot melts where you strip the fiber heat up a connector thread the fiber threw let it cool cleave the extra fiber sticking threw the connector with a scalpel then buff the fiber tell its clear
