actually, people are becoming so disenchanted with reality and what is going on around them that they transpose their own life of comfort onto everyone else and can not possibly imagine scenarios outside of their own. If anything, recent events show that people can't rely on police to protect them from danger, and you should have a firearm to take the responsibility into your own hands. New Zealand shooting response time was so late that guy was able to return to his car, swap out guns, and go back in and shoot everyone again.

As odd as it sounds, guns are actually very safe. Most gunshot deaths are actually from bleeding out or infection. Modern ammunition is designed to do as little damage as possible. Ball ammo is used, which is very likely to pass through you completely, leaving a clean wound and no bullet stuck inside your body. Assuming you could get treatment quickly, gunshots are surprisingly survivable. If you're not hit in one of the handful of vital spots on your body, you will likely make a full recovery

Stab wounds, on the other hand, have the potential to get quite messy. A well-sharpened straight edge blade could leave a clean, easily survivable wound. If the knife is dull, serrated, or gets stuck in bone, tendon, or clothing, it will leave a messier wound that will bleed faster and be more prone to infection. In addition, pretty much all knives will leave a wound with more surface area, thus more bleeding and chance of infection.

Don't even get me started on things life explosives, poisonings, or acid attacks. Fuck that shit. Buy hey, guns? Something fairly difficult to aim even with precise modern guns? Even more difficult to hit moving targets or if the shooter is moving? Limited by a somewhat involved reloading process that requires carrying heavy clips/magazines? The most common guns are low-caliber handguns? Fuck yes. Please, more guns, less bombs. If you ban guns and heavily restrict knives, people who really want to commit violent atrocities will resort (if they can't just buy one from the black market) bombings, chemical attacks, vehicular homicide, and whatever other horrid shit that's a worse prospect than getting shot.
