We are all, to a degree, slaves to our genes. Our natural inclinations were originally forged by whatever propagated our genes the most. That, plus the gender division for reproduction, caused the female half of the species to take a subservient role. Physically weaker, the ones who survived were the ones that submitted to being dragged back to the cave by their hair, rather than enrage their attackers. In modern society, this feature of our genetics expresses itself as women who like being playfully choked, intimately dominated, and who fantasize about being raped.

It's an unenviable situation, and I think it's the source of a lot of female craziness. They are torn between their base desires for this abuse and their logical necessities for safety. A hardcore feminist is just a logical thinking woman who recognizes that the things she wants are bad for her. And a horny slut is one who just indulges in enjoyment of her libidinal desires. For most in the middle, the conflict just makes them make decisions that to a male can look really retarded.

But honestly, they deserve tremendous sympathy for having to deal with this, and any decent understanding human would grant this to them. Males have urges to overcome too, like violence when angered. Sometimes we slip up and get in a fight. And sometimes women slip up and get in an abusive relationship.

While it's normal for insects, amongst mammals it's quite uncommon. Females are on quite a few occasions the leader of a family group, but in general they'll not try to dominate an adult male unless they feel their children are threatened. One notable exception would be hyena's, where the dominant female is in fact so dominant she grows a fake penis.

Also, while insects lay hundreds or thousands of eggs (where the overpopulation/excess offspring dies off from starvation), mammalian females often give birth to only a small amount more offspring than is needed to maintain their numbers. This makes females more valuable for the species, so they've evolved to avoid harm by accepting dominant partners.
