It takes time and hard work but can be achieved. A lot of the process is self study so you should try to understand yourself first. Comes down to finding your own voice, the aesthetic that you feel as your own and the tools around which you feel most at home. Usually if you try to force yourself into one direction like "I'm gonna be a painter" you just burn yourself out trying and the result is shit. You have to experiment different shit and see what speaks to you, but knowing yourself is kinda the key. I always wanted to learn how to draw and it went to shit. Today I hang around on Yea Forums and myself deal with video and sound art and clay sculpturing, while making my bread as an marketing strategist and an accountant.
