Anyway. Someone managed to lock themselves out of the local account on a front desk computer. There are two things wrong with this. First, they should not be using the local account. That account is only to be used for admin purposes.
Second, those accounts should not be able to be locked out. Was a bit of a dozy figuring that one out. Learned a couple new things though, which is always good.

I dropped my old phone one two many times and it started to do some wacky screen stuff. Got a screen protector and a case for this one. I've been happy with the S8 line, and I was able to get a other one for a price much cheaper than a new model.

But yeah, something like that. When installing teamviewer they ask whether or not you intend to use it commercially for which you have to buy it. Apparently my usage patterns seemed a little too commercial for them, so I got the boot. Rip.

I personally use Teamviewer myself. Just to RDP into my computer so I can contribute to daytime threads like these from work more easily. But stuff got changed around a little bit and I don't have it set up properly right now.
Ar work we mostly use commercial teamviewer with unattended access, or Windows own Remote Desktop tool.
I dropped the heck out of that phone, but stayed lucky with no spiderwebbing. I hate having a case though. I mostly take it off unless I know I'm gonna be out and about with it a lot. Screen protector should do enough for while I'm inside.

Anyway, I had multiple baskets of laundry that were cluttering my room and causing me to be unable to properly clean. And the laundry wasn't put away because all my drawers were disorganized, and the draws were disorganized because they had clothes I no longer wear. So I had to fix that in reverse order by pulling out old clothes, organizing everything, and putting everything away. Took longer than I thought it would.

Getting close. This is the last week of assignments thankfully, then it's a week break and exams start.
I just watched the last lecture for my content management systems class, which was about the presentation I have to do in like 14 hours and now realise I'm a lot less prepared than I'd like to be. I think there's going to be a lot of pulling rabbits out of hats going on soon. Nobody like presentations, especially me.
And yeah. I want to play games on my laptop using the hardware in my desktop. I really hate being tethered to a desk which is why I use remote desktop so heavily. It might actually make me start playing games more. Right now I basically don't play anything.

Do you get a nice break after exams to look forward to? And yeah, I always procrastinate presentations. I did a lot of public speaking style stuff as a kid, so I can just pull stuff out of the air if I need to.
I feel like aSteam both A) let's you add non-Steam games into your library and B) lets you stream games from other devices with your Steam account connected to the same network. I do not know however if those two services can be used together. I'm not sure if you've looked into that.

It's not so much the presenting itself that scares me anymore. I used to be that cliche shy kid, and can still often be, but I've been getting a lot better. It's just the lack of practise I've had for this specific presentation. It's a group presentation for a group project that I've been doing with 4 other people. They're the more "care free" type to put it a little more politely, so everything has tended to happen last minute. We're meeting up again about an hour or two before the actual presentation, and I'm kind of hoping for a miracle. I'll see how it goes. It's only 10% of the overall grade, which is a bad way to look at things, but if it's a disaster it probably won't hurt too bad.
I should really try steam. You know what, I've been putting it off for like 5 years or something. So long I don't even remember actually. Procrastination is on fleek baby

Yeah, I certainly was there a couple times. I still think group projects are done wrong. Very seldom are group projects a spur of the moment thing, so its dumb to have a group work for such a short time. I think if teachers want to encourage working as a team to prepare students for a workplace environment, teams should be assigned at the beginning of the semester, with some degrees of flexibility. Those are my thoughts on the matter.
Steam is very handy, and doesn't show any signs of going away anytime soon. The sales are nice, and being able to have cloud save data for most games is highly convenient.

We've been working in a team for about 6 weeks or so. Trust me though, our lecturer is good. He made us do "job interview" style activities with all class members to try and figure out who you want as team members. The forming groups part just wasn't the best, as undergrad IT students we aren't the best at that kind of thing. Most of the more geeky guys seem a bit too shy to reach out on their own, and hope a group comes to them. I've been there many times. That's the kind of wisdom I know comes with age though. So I kinda got roped into "that" group. Shit happens.
Honestly I just think lecturers should be a little more hands on with forming groups. Maybe that's just something that happens at my Uni or whatever. We don't necessarily need to have them formed for us, but maybe a dedicated group forming chatroom provided or something. The Blackboard online portal our Uni uses actually doesn't make it all that easy to network with people.
And I agree with the whole workplace thing. Admittedly I *haven't* worked before, but I assume it's less, find a group and more here's your collegues, learn to work with them. Plus there's real financial incentive to do well (You'd hope anyway). Most students I've talked to don't seem to realise that each class they take is leaving them about $1.1k out of pocket because of a deffered student debt payment system in place here in Australia. Maybe if they fully realised, they'd dedicate a little more to their education.

It would be better if we both had higher standards for teaching, and gave more to teachers so that would-be impassioned teachers would be incentivised to become teachers, rather than be scared off by the abysmally low pay, long hours, and stress of the current social climate.

I've had my fair share of crap lecturers too, but there's definitely an emphasis on quality. Students are encouraged to complete an anonymous online survey at the end of each subject to offer constructive criticism.
The lecturer I have for this class is probably one of the two best in the faculty. This class has been a real positive learning experience as a result. It's interesting how much the influence a lecturer has on how good a subject is.
At least from my own knowledge here, a lot of Uni professors are pressured (somewhat) into doing their own research projects and other things that can generate revenue for the Uni. I found this out the hard way last semester when the lecturer for one of my classes would go MIA for weeks because he was too tied up in other things I assume. I don't know enough about this stuff but it doesn't sound like an ideal way to go about things. Money is the root of all evil.
I've heard about American colleges. Especially community colleges. Are they really bad? Surely they'd go out of business if so. There must be a lot of competition over in America.

There definitely is somewhat of an incentive to generate research value in some schools around here. I've never directly run into it as an issue though, so I'm speaking on hearsay really.
The colleges dont go out of business because the common American still believes that they need college to get ahead in life. In some places that's true, such as in old practices like doctoring and lawyering. In other places it's not, such as technology, where you can get by with connections, certs, and experience. Colleges are in a rough place economically. They can be predatory with loans, so they do. They know students feel they need college, so they can charge exorbitant prices for classes and books, knowing that the students will either pay out of daddy's pocket, or take gratuitous amounts of student loans. The idea that many professions dont need a degree is gaining traction slowly at least. Independent learning and earning certifications is an option.
They're also big on ”agenda pushing” these days. Colleges shouldn't teach young adults an opinion. At the most, they should teach young adults how to be informed and have an opinion. But its darn near impossible to remove the human element from that, and there will always be a teacher bias.
At some point something will give. Either the culture will change, and more businesses will realize they dont have to hire people with degrees, which happened in my case, or education will become unaffordable, and something may happen as a result of that.

I think you've thoughourly convinced me on the woes of American education. That sounds like a bit of a circus. There are similarities here, where it is expensive at times. But college is a structured format for those who aren't so good at being motivated enough to go through all the necessary requirements otherwise. It has its merits.
Agenda pushing sounds very American. I think South Park had a whole season dedicated to parodying that stuff. The SJW movement is ruining education.
