well there actually is some evidence of wheeled carts in Ethiopia and parts of the Sudan, but for the most part they didn't have draft animals for pulling carts. There's lots of reason for this, they didn't need to plow, tsetse fly and trypanosomiasis and other diseases, hot and dry climate, etc etc
