Reminder that nothing has intrinsic value.

Spoken like a true burnout.

Like that changes anything. Life is worthless.

You need a diploma to get a job to buy a rope to kill yourself.

found the gender studies major

Yours is, maybe.

> public HS diploma
Why even say public? As if going to a private high school means anything. Hell, even what college you goto doesn't mean anything unless you go to a top tier school and get upper 10% of class. If you can't do both, you may as well go to a community college and state college to save money and time.

I really really like this comic OP
thanks for sharing

So?

1) Drop out in 8th grade
2) Bitch that a HS diploma is worthless
3) ????
4) PROFIT!!

Sounds more like a drop out trying to make himself feel better.

I don't even finish HS. So, I don't care

You all seem to talk as if you don't become the top 1% it all doesn't matter.

Fucking retarded.

Jobs don't even background check it. I've turned down applications for having retarded college studies on their app as if it's something to be proud of that you wasted your youth and your parents money/put yourself in debt.

Yeah, so just don't get a degree in gender studies

About 10% of what I learned in highschool is actually helpful. School system Is flawed. And college degrees are only worthwhile if you are STEM. if not, then good luck

>Not being in the 1% at birth.
Losers

>Not having free college from scholarships.
Losers

No one is arguing that, but you should get a degree in something that will get you a job like botany or fucking anything that isn't gender studies or dead languages

Cybersecurity here ...........dab

I remember this poster a teacher of mine had on the wall in HS.

"It's true, you'll only ever need 10% of what you learn in HS. Problem is, which 10% is it?"

Cause there's the thing... depends on what you do with your life. Will you need Trig? Not if you're a copy editor, but what if you go into a STEM field? Do you need Beowulf? Not if you're in STEAM, but what if you go into a literary career?

It's all relative moron.

Feels good to be in that 10%

Maybe not your shitty job at Wendy's.

I mean sure, technically some fields don't require a degree. Others they're mandatory (you can't be a doctor with out it).

For example my field of software development doesn't require a degree. Though it definitely is being expected more and more at companies. And if you don't have a degree they want relevant experience comparable to a degree and it will definitely come up in the interview quite heavily. I know this because I don't have a degree, and I have to justify my lack of a degree when I interview.

Did you just call it steam

Yes, I mistyped.

What I am saying is that only VERY VERY FEW jobs even care if you are top 1%, such as top NY law firms.

A person who interviews well that went to a state college is going to get a job over a top tier private college that doesn't interview as good in MOST jobs.

Since you can't read, you don't have to worry about getting into a private college.

If you are actually smart and work hard you don't need a degree.

>ITT : american retards crying about their shitty school system which costs money

Sure, yet the posts are flippant "college and hs diplomas are useless".

It's called throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Moron.

I don't see your fucking point. I got a job not even a year after I graduated from uni.

Good luck becoming a scientist or medical doctor with your smarts and no degrees

>Implying you dont indirectly pay for your tuition through taxes
Nice try tho

This problem mainly only occurs because when you're in high school they never tell you anything related to which majors are good and which are bad. They are basically like "Go to college and fulfill your dreams!" They don't say some dreams are terrible choices in modern society, or things like art major for example either you get very lucky and society likes that style of art and you make millions, or else you make jack fucking shit, and there's no in between. Colleges just want as many people to attend as possible, go through liberal brainwashing, get useless degrees, then use their liberal brainwashing to complain about college in a way that's not negative towards the colleges. Like "we need even more free college education!"

Not everything should be mandatory when we could be teaching kids things they need. We shouldn't take those subjects out of schools, but just not make it mandatory. Why would I need to lean about Shakespeare, when I could be learning basic first aid. Why couldn't I learn things like balancing a checkbook, or my human rights, or resumes, and the best ways to get jobs instead I learned the quadratic formula, which I have never used. I'm a fucking programmer. Abstract math is not more important than learning how to notice the signs of sickness, before they happen. Or hell, we should have learned how to take care of a kid. We learned about condoms, but not how to raise a kid when we actually wanted one. You would say the parents should teach this, but what if the parents are shit. Or the kid doesn't have parents to teach them. Why don't we teach our kids how to be a parent from highschool on

>college degrees are worthless.
Meh, I earned a associate's is automotive technology and certified auto body technician. I guess it depends what degree,eh? I'm making over 100k a year with my worthless degrees...

That's something the rad lefts tried to push to add arts to stem to make it steam

well taxes are MUCH better than any retarded, arbitrary school fee - that way EVERYONE pays the same percentage and noone is forced to skip higher education just because its too expensive

Being good at Auto body will always pay off. My father is a mechanic. Opened his own shop. He makes 500k+ a year.

And growing up he makes us earn everything we have, so the money he makes goes to our college instead. Cars are a different story though, we just fix those from scrap

Blue collar is where it's at now. Any asshole can sit at a screen and learn Python, but people who do anything skillful with their hands besides draw furry porn are getting rarer and rarer. I don't even have a job, I learned to make not even that great furniture from reused hardwood, I pop down to a fucking bluepill yuppie farmer's market and sell that shit easy. I get most of my materials from the fucking dump.

Fortunately you dont need a degree to be successful in life lol degrees only prove one thing: how desperate you are to join the rat race and an unhealthy desire to feel validated. But you do you bro lol surely that piece of paper will make up for all the love and attention you didnt get as a child.

right because those are the only 2 jobs that pay well.

Not being in Cybersecurity. Nerd

>Wendy's
or dispatch shipping freight containers from China to EST.

It all depends on the job you are going for. That piece of paper just helps with getting the job. Most companies I talk too won't hire someone if they don't have a degree or at least 10 years of genuine work experience in the same field

Two jobs that pay well and require degrees

>90%
>90....
>90%+10%/=/100%
I guess your math is the reason automotive use three different measurement systems in one vehicle.

You still could of just went to a tech for $5k and went to any diesel shop in the country the day after.

I absolutely agree. I graduated HS in 1990. Worked a couple of shitty jobs for like 4 years and then the internet thing kicked off mid 90's and they would hire anyone who knew unix/TCP/networking etc. Never saw a day of college. went from a wage slave to 750000 / yr salary in 1995 and now i'm pulling in a healthy 6 figure salary. Never saw a day of college, and I know more than most college graduates. Hell, when I write reports at the office, I'm amazed they graduated since they can barely string a sentence together.

Unless you're a physician, or in some of the sciences, a college degree is worthless. Especially if your degree is in the Humanities.

If you think people are forced to skip college because of cost then you are wrong. Grants, scholarships and loans all exist

>says IT is shitty
>is a carpenter in 2019

If you're going to shit on a profession I wouldn't choose a job in the information technology field there champ. Generally coders (even bad ones) and sysadmins, along with infosec jobs make close to 6 figs. This is one of the 10% of degrees that are worth something. If you're going to shit on a degree make it an expendable business department like marketing, social media orchestration, or anything not STEM related essentially

Amen, user. On the average, welders make more than lawyers these days. Law is almost as bad as art or music; if you aren’t the lucky rockstar (no, that WONT be you) , you make jack shit, and are forever in debt.

The latter is the more effective of the two, but of course the trend is changing. Entrepeneurialship is truly the best calling for anyone with specialized skills.

>Any asshole can sit at a screen and learn Python

true but only few can actually use skills like these properly.

I always hear about people whos friends/family members are greasemonkeys and plumbers and other skilled labor jobs that pull in 3 billion dollars, but i've never met one who does. I knew a plumber once who had been a pumber for 25 years, and he pulled in a lot, but had to spend most of it on insurance/union shit, paying for apprentices and other employees. At the end of it his take home was like 140 or 150k, tops.

>tfw high school dropout
>get union railroad job
>tfw making 90k a year
>tfw older sister has Masters and still lives with parents

Welders only make bank on the pipeline (DIRECTLY ON THE PIPELINE) or dam repair.

I made and supplied pipe for my state at $13.50 an hour. I got cert'd in High School to weld, and when I got my first job welding I had to relearn how to weld because most welds are done by machine now and I had to learn the programming and the mechanical repair.

The latter is better, but how do you get it, if they all want it before you start.

Often times the juice just isn't worth the squeeze. For example if you're going to be a police officer, fireman, grow pot, be in the trades (auto, electrician, roofer, etc.) or an air traffic controller or something you can make copious amounts of money without a degree. Its a shame I see so many people going to get degrees these days and they waste money or scholarships on worthless degrees on stuff like psychology or history. There is literally a 200% increase in tuition since 1980. Why? Is education that much better? No. Its insane. The bubble will burst soon.

Information Security. Nobody in our industry except for idiot government monkeys calls it "cybersecurity" or "cyber".

It's a stupid phrase and you should feel bad for using it.

We have a lot to pay for,. So it equals out around 200k. Mistakes cause it

Sr SysAdmin here. So true, lol. GOod post user

College is a business and I'm not bitter because I didnt choose a shit tier major (chemistry)

Attached: 0118416422.jpg (2450x1344, 199K)

Good to know. I'm still in college. Just what my major says. Thx bby

Connections are pretty much the only way. Nowadays the big thing is to get out and do it all on your own, but that is just a pointless challenge to add to your weight if you ask me. The most influential families in our society have made it as far as they have through family unity and networking and it has served them rather well.

22 year old software engineer in low COL area, about 90k but required a CS degree

Pretty comfy

Everyone talking about STEM, I have masters in STEM and lab job pays minimum wage. This is the same effect like we had 5 years ago with Nursing- Be a nurse you will be rich, shit ton enrolled for the program to graduate and find out that ton of people had the same idea and now everyone is fucked. Wanna start studying something? Find something that noone is talking about. In 6 years your field will be rare AF and you will get paid silly money just cuz no one beside you can do it

Thinking about going for electrical engineering. Is it hard?
Anyobe an engineer?

That is BS .... I have open job position for at least 400$ a week and barely anybody to apply ...
1. HS diploma 2.Driving license and here is kicker
3. drug test

>at least 400$ a week
sooo below poverty line? nice... i wonder why no one is applying

>Not coming from a rich family and having Garunteed jobs because you present yourself well and try not to show you were spoiled outside of the internet.
Losers.

I have a position available for $13/hour starting out with twice yearly bonus's and raises. Same requirements, two applications in six months.

punch your prof. And just know when we hire people, we don't give a shit about the college degree. what we want is interest in the field. Participation. Go to cons. Participate in CTF's. We'd far rather have someone who knows nothing about shit that's passionate and can learn than someone who knows everything about one subject.

And don't get locked into firewalls. Learn them, learn how they work (e.g. Rule 0, how NATting works, etc) but don't touch them after about a year. It's a fucking trap from which you will never escape. Leave that shit to the networking guys.

And remember, grab a VPN, pay for it with a 100 dollar gift prepaid card paid for in cash (can't buy 'em any other way i think ) and remember: Most people don't check logs, and even if they do, they learned a long time ago that VPN service providers don't respond very often, so they rarely report scans to them. The world is your pentest lab. Load up a pentest distro, change your mac address, and if you have to use a public wifi AP, do it from across the street, like at a Jamba Juice across the street from the Starbucks.

400$ a week is starting pay after taxes ... 16$ an hour average ... what the fuck you want coming out of HS ??

>Garunteed
Guaranteed.

Dude. I make more than that, and I'm just doing summer jobs between school years. That's about $12 an hour. Before tax

Your family doesn't have to be ultra wealthy in order to have a hereditary business profession that spans multiple generations you dumb nigger.

Tbh I was planning on getting military experience in the field. Air Force has a branch for it, but they want people to come in as officers with a degree in a similar subject. Don't know how good of an idea it is, but I've always been interested in the military. Just I'm not a hooraa cunt.

I call it BS
statista.com/statistics/633660/unemployment-rate-of-recent-graduates-in-the-us/

Yea but I get to succeed while you struggle. Loser

Are you a chick? You can't be in infosec and be a chick unless you dye your hair red or purple and endlessly talk about Women In Tech and representation.

I mean. I wish I was a cute emo/scene girl that was crazy about it, ide have so much fun in that body. But nah. Am dude

That's why you go into STEM. That only applies to liberal arts.
