It isn't a matter of normality, it's a matter of age of consent. We got rid of laws preventing same sex marriage because it's nonsensical to tell two consenting adults that they can't get married. Children are incapable of giving consent, so even if being attracted to children is considered normal, laws preventing adults from having sex with children wouldn't be gotten rid of. If you want to say "well what if they are?" then you could say that about anything. What's stopping us from changing laws saying we can't go around killing each other willy nilly?

I don't see why the fact that they're easily distinguishable from the real thing matters. Think about it this way, what if some fictional 2D (or 3D graphics) representation all-but perfectly represented a real child in a near-photographic way. If you wanted to ban that near-photographic and graphic but fictional representation of a child, what would you do? You'd not just do something vague like a "near-photographic and graphic depictions of a child" ban, you'd ban nearly all graphic fiction depictions to remove ambiguity.
