That was true maybe 50 years ago when we didn't have a fraction of the knowledge in metal working and manufacturing we do today;but it is 2019 and and stainless steel reigns supreme.

No rust,smooth finish,durable and dropproof,plus the inside is a good sculpted metal that enhances the velvet lining. I'm probably gonna use mine as my daily driver for a long time

Today, you could overmold resin onto a wooden box and enjoy a razor-thin, mirror-smooth finish, with as much or as little refraction as you like.

That is beautiful. The grain in the wood looks amazing. It reminds me of my fingerbox when I was little (46 years old now) that was handed down from my dad.

My dad gave me his as well I know these new metal ones are good and all that, but again a hand me down has more excitement to it
