yeah, it had a great atmosphere, we were 4 guys and had hired a private guide for a 2 day trip.
you will need a private guide if you want to take pictures, the others have perhaps 15 people with them that will get in your way constantly.
There was a lot of abandoned places, it was really cool if you are in to the whole post apocalyptic thing.

i had done the research and just told the guide were to get us, he was really cool and let us in to off limits buildings since we were such a small group.
there were several military or police checkpoints, where he bribed the guards (just with soda and candy). You had to get scanned for radioactivity everytime you wanted to leave the zone.

there is a safety line of about 100meters from the thing they build around the plant.
you cant enter there as a tourist, but they had a lot of people working there.

i think the orphanage was the most interesting place. But there were many dark and abandoned buildings that were also interesting. I posted a hospital pic in the new thread, that was also great - and you couldnt enter the basement cause they had taken all the radioactive down there.

the food in kiev was fine, we went to restaurents. Inside the radiation zone it was really bad, like really. there is an outer and an inner zone, and in the inner you cant stay, but in the outer there are small towns and we stayed in a hotel in such a town, it was provided by the tour. the food in that hotel was really bad. The guide said it was really good and he looked happy eating it, so i felt bad and had to eat some of it, though i would rather have just left it all.
dont know why they are down, and you are right about the whores, but if they fuck and strip for tourists they make more money in 1 day than a worker in a store does in a month i would estimate.
2 hours of that stripper whore who was top quality was $200, including the club fee and a taxi back to the hotel.
