Vote for a Civ (writing up insects now) and make simple choices. You'll see in a second.
Seconded, how's this work?
Cool, bugs it is.
The hive at Ank’loth is destroyed. The scattered survivors march single file into the bleak Nargoth Mountain range, ready to face whatever challenges may face them. As you march, you come across a cave into a mountain covered in low scrub.
Count:
10 Winged Drones (Frail bodied winged insectoids with sharp mandibles)

The remnants of your hive march down into the green valley below. A river runs past you, separating the densely-packed scrubland at the foothills of the mountain and the vibrant green forest. A bridge runs across the river, and in the distance, smoke can be seen over the treeline, indicating a village or camp of some sort. The bridge seems undetected, but a new small hive could be built underneath it.

Fuck me mate. It would seem something evil lives in that cave up the mountain. Can we send a delegate to the city to ask if they know anything about creatures in the mountainside?
If that's too much to ask I say we just begin building a hive, our strength is primarily in numbers above all else.

Op, what do we know about how other races few the insects?
>NewOldFag
Figuring the drone is not of consequence, your ant workers begin constructing a sturdy hive under the bridge from their viscous spit (2 turns until completion due to building bonus). Meanwhile, a drone and scorpion are dispatched toward the smoke as scouts. They discover a human troupe of traveling troubadours, lightly armed entertainers. They appear to be packing up their camp, and seem to head to the bridge. Luckily, the hive will be complete before they arrive at the bridge.

The work on the hive is complete! Now that the hive is finished, Ant Workers can be evolved over a few turns into existing combat units (3 Ant Soldiers = Winged Drone, 5 Ant Soldiers = Scorpion Soldier) or random new units. Meanwhile, the hive waits under the bridge in silence, hearing the loud troubadours come closer to the bridge with their loaded wagons. There are about 20 humans in total, with only 3 being armed warriors.
Count:
9 Winged Drones (Frail bodied winged insectoids with sharp mandibles)
3 Scorpion Soldiers (Six-Legged Scorpions armed with pincers and poisoned tails.)

C. Allow them to pass after all

The trap is set. A scorpion soldier quietly shimmies their way to either side of the bridge, waiting in ambush. As soon as all of the humans and their wagons are on the bridge, the drones buzz in an angry roar, and cries of fear are heard from above. The drones descend on the humans, grabbing the few non combatants that aren’t fleeing to either side of the bridge and dropping them in the river. The ant workers descend on them, overpowering them with numbers and tearing them apart (+2 provisions). Two soldiers attempt to lead a group of jesters back from whence they came, with one of them slicing a drone soldier in two. However, the scorpion grabs both of them and cuts them apart with his pincers, stabbing the others as they run. The last soldier and his group running the opposite way also kill a drone, but meet a similar fate. The scene grows quiet. The humans are slaughtered. In their wagons you find 15 sets of armor which can fit on your drone soldiers!
Count:
7 Winged Drones (Armored and winged insectoids with sharp mandibles)
3 Scorpion Soldiers (Six-Legged Scorpions armed with pincers and poisoned tails.)

You begin to evolve your workers into more winged drones which can wear the armor you found. 24 Worker ants cocoon themselves and congeal into 8 Winged drones, which are outfitted in leather armor. Also curious how high off the water our bridge is.

That's a big bridge.
8 meters and 11 meters in height, to clarify.
Your worker ants are set to begin fortifying the hive. Tunnels are dug into the banks to either side of the bridge, allowing for the queen to escape or easier ambush cleanup. The hive itself is also expand, in some places actually touching the water of the river. The water soaks up into the hive, making it more flame retardant (flames having burned your last hive.)

You hunt in the scrubland, collecting more resources using more winged drones to hunt (+4 provisions). However, as you complete the hunt, one of your winged scouts from the dwarf hole flies towards the group, carapace punctured with a crossbow bolt. The other drone wasn’t so lucky. The dwarves are coming, 10 in number and heavily armed with crossbows and axes, wearing metal armor.

Facts
>Quick-Wings
Your hive acts quickly. 3 drones fly quickly by the group, beaming toward the dwarf hole. The dwarves fire but miss. While powerful, the bows (or their users) aren’t incredibly accurate. 2 dwarves return towards the hole, splitting their forces. The 8 other dwarves continue to march on the bridge. Your forces fall back under the bridge to defend. Your scorpion warriors dig into the tunnels and await the stomping dwarf feet. Your ant workers cocoon, and can evolve by next turn. The drones fly at the dwarves as a distraction. 2 are shot from the air, while another dwarf is attacked by the drones and lifted in the air and dropped, killing him. Your scorpion soldiers spring from the tunnels and stab upwards, killing three more dwarves. Their pincers snarl the four remaining as another drone and a scorpion soldier are cut down. Your drones fall upon the 4 remaining dwarves, and swarm them to death (+2 provisions). The hive is safe… for now.
Count:
11 Winged Drones (Armored and winged insectoids with sharp mandibles)
2 Scorpion Soldiers (Six-Legged Scorpions armed with pincers and poisoned tails.)
25 Ant Workers (Nearly defenseless being with a desire to labour) (Cocooned)
1 Ant Queen (can produce asexually, spawns 4 new Ant workers per turn)
Provisions for 6 turns
OPTIONS:
A. Attack the dwarf hole now, following your drone diversion
B. Wait for evolutions, then attack
C. Wait for evolutions and regroup at hive before attacking
D. Other
Search for provisions
Gonna ignore that 2 seconds to late post.

oh, long term plan guys. if we kill all the dwarves, you guys wanna move the hive into their tunnels? seems kinda better defended than what we have now. OP, how long would it take to move/make new hive down there, if we do manage to take it?
Let's see if we can clear it out first.
Your building is overpowered. If you move the queen there, one turn. 3 turns unless you have 15 plus worker ants but you already evolved them. Can create a second queen for one at each hive.
>OP
I like the new queen idea, but still let's do C
>NewOldFag
B
Don't give them time to regroup or wonder where the fuck the dwarves went. Hit them as soon as we have hatched more warrior class.

seconding this. new queen thing can wait till we have a new place, lol
>9823
Forgot to ask if we could salvage the armour off of our two fallen wingy bois
Your evolutions burst from their cocoons, 3 new drones are produced and 3 new scorpion soldiers are added. The armor from the dead drones is recovered and given to new drones. You quickly push on towards the dwarf hole. However, you find your 3 drones slain with a dead dwarf nearby. The little bastard may have retreated back down into his hole.
Count:
11 Winged Drones (Armored and winged insectoids with sharp mandibles)
5 Scorpion Soldiers (Six-Legged Scorpions armed with pincers and poisoned tails.)
5 Ant Workers (Nearly defenseless being with a desire to labour)
1 Ant Queen (can produce asexually, spawns 4 new Ant workers per turn)
Provisions for 5 turns
OPTIONS:
A. Send a drone down into the dwarf hole
B. Send a scorpion soldier down into the dwarf hole
C. Attempt to collapse the dwarf hole
D. Full frontal assault on the dwarf hole
E. Other
Fucking D, lead with the scorpions, they seem the best in tunnels.
>NewOldFag
E how far is the river? Can we flood these fuckers out? If not then option D.
>Quick-Wings
You could but you can't unflood it as easily, plus would take a few turn to ford the river with old human wagons. It is an option though.
>OP
We should save it. We reproduce fast, we'll make up the losses from assult with two hives easily.
This, let's end this with the scorpions. Maybe start making a new queen back at the hive to populate this tunnel.
>9823
You choose to full on attack the hole, sending in your 5 scorpion soldiers down into the hole, the drones following behind. As they skitter, the first soldier is burnt to death by a flame trap the dwarves have set. The next two are crushed to death by a falling rock trap. The assault continues however, and you arrive at their burrow. Three dwarves attack the first scorpion through the hole with their axes, felling him. The next however kills a dwarf with his stinger, while the other two are grabbed by their pincers. The drones swarm in behind and swarm the dwarves, killing them finally. The dwarves are slaughtered. Their cave is filled with tech, such as metal armor which can be cobbled together to outfit scorpion troops, provisions (+3 provisions), and a prototype ballista cannon.
Count:
11 Winged Drones (Armored and winged insectoids with sharp mandibles)
1 Scorpion Soldiers (Six-Legged Scorpions armed with pincers and poisoned tails.)
9 Ant Workers (Nearly defenseless being with a desire to labour)
1 Ant Queen (can produce asexually, spawns 4 new Ant workers per turn)
Provisions for 8 turns
OPTIONS:
A. Salvage everything and collapse the dwarf hole
B. Create a new hive immediately in the dwarf hole
C. Return to the original hive, leaving behind drone guards
D. Other
I'm thinking C, we have neighbors.
>NewOldFag
C, two drones gaurds and a ballista should be okay for defense, besides we are the only ones who know the dwarves are gone for now. No one is going to steal this base from us in a single turn, I don't wanna stay away long tho.

You decide to return to the original hive, fearing threats from the other side of the bridge. You place 2 drone guards outside of the conquered dwarf hole, and have your only remaining scorpion drag the ballista out of the tunnel and place it above the hole, adding to its defense. You return to the hive to find all is well.
Count:
