Started a thread at 4am yesterday with the same topic. It didn't get too popular, so here goes again.
I am currently suffering from Severe Depression, troubled thoughts and loneliness. Feel like shit constantly.
I have tried a lot of stuff already, but to list a few here are a couple:
>psychotherapy >talking to family >talking to friends >anti-depressants
Little bit about me, i work out 5 days a week. I have a bunch of friends with similar interests and personalities who i trust completely, a good job that Is well paid and i am moving to another soon which is part of my college degree (studying Computer Science).
My question to you guys is, have you ever had an experience with depression? You or someone you know? How did you or that person deal with it?
Thinking about giving up on trying to feel better. I just want to be happy again.

Used to have a gf, which was one of the reasons why i have become depressed. I have been with other girls since but its not the same.

If you can work out and go to work every day, then you don't have severe depression. You're just sad. Find a hobby that you like and try tinder. Just get laid and play magic the gathering, keep up the work out and the job. Cheers.
Get laid, eat clam chowder, go out in the woods for some walks, get some friends together and have good times. If you do this you will feel 100% better guaranteed.
Go kill an animal. Seriously. When you pull the trigger, or don't, you will realize the value of life and reconsider many things. Fishing won't work, unless you spear-fish.

How old are you, Op? I'm 31, depression was always constant for me. Believe me op, the older you get, the harder it becomes. There is no happy end for people like us.
It only gets lonelier, sadder, darker. Just when you start to see the horizon, you'll realise it was just a lamp in the darkness.
i always go to the woods, even with friends...been with a few girls since my breakup...still not feeling great

I am able to put on a happy face, sometimes i get extremely bad and dont show up to work. Get in massive arguments, thats why i went to a therapist who concluded i have severe depression.

Honestly, i am 20 years old. I know, pretty young to be thinking about this shit.
I agree, i don't think i will ever be able to overcome it. It will be with me forever.

start drinking. scotch. not even kidding. alocohol saves lives.
I drink a lot of alcohol, whiskey is my favourite...it does the trick for the time i feel wasted which is why i enjoy it so much.

It doesn't matter how old are you, just look for something to escape this reality from time to time. That's helping me a bit.

Sometimes depression is just an endurance test. Sure, its difficult to go round after round with it, but keep going. Also, get rid of all sad music and heavy tv shows.
Jace Baker
Fuck scotch, smoke weed. It helps much better.
Matthew Davis
My friends deal drugs and smoke weed all the time, for me it just has the same effect as alcohol except its instant and makes me real hungry and tired. It does help but waking up the next day feeling even worse isnt really great.
Elijah Davis
What do you do to escape from reality?

Friend of mine has somewhat of the same problem. Has no actual reason to be depressed, but he is Was actually had a convo about is a few days ago. He goes to a psychiatrist and she gave him some pills (no antidepressants but somthing similar). He says they help a bit but he's thinking of going to psychiatric center or something

Yeah, its strange. Nothing to be depressed about is something that has been brought up by many of my friends. My life is great but im just not happy...a lot of it is to do with my ex, but even when i was with her i still felt like shit sometimes, not because of her...but like something was missing in my life.

Try working out regularly (dunno if you qualify this as "muh going outside") Gains as well as workout endorphins, which are great for my mood at least

I do go to the gym A LOT, workout regularly, healthy eating...i am sociable i go out into the town for drinks with friends and colleagues. There have been times i have been lifting in the gym and just randomly felt down so had to leave.
