If I go by specific departments it gets even worse, they beat the projection by $2k per week easily in one department with 6 employees, 5 making around $16/hr and one making $27/hr (the manager)

They could easily bump everyone in the department to $20/hr and still be profitable.

I’m currently not working, but when I was I was only making $12 an hour and working 35 hours a week as an assistant produce manager. I lived in one of the cheapest cities in the country and I still was having trouble making rent and living in squalor. A minimum wage of $15 would assure that in most places full time workers could at least afford a one bedroom apartment. Also it’s a question of American business models being fair. Executives and elites shouldn’t be hoarding money while people at the ground level are struggling to make ends meet. Even worse most companies I’ve worked for also show anti union propaganda during orientation. A higher minimum wage wouldn’t solve everything, but it would make it easier for workers to live and give them the tools they need to make a better life. We also need to increase marginal tax rates for the incredibly wealthy to fund social programs such as Medicaid for all. Healthcare should be considered a basic human right.

Lowe’s has it’s own issues, but after working for Walmart for 3 years and doing more work per shift than most team leads, I just couldn’t do it. It broke me. I actually dislocated one of my knees when working at Lowe’s lifting soil and I have some fucked up ligaments because of it. They never paid for me to have a follow up or have it checked out past a 5 minute visit at the walk in clinic. It was really shit, man.

The minimum wage was designed to make sure that exploitative businesses could not pay anyone they hired full time less than enough to survive. That amount in the past was indeed enough to afford accommodation, heat, food and clothing, today it is not. The number needs by necessity to rise with inflation or it is not serving its purpose.

The trouble is that nobody can afford to stop working no. Labor markets are saturated. It's a buyer's market and companies can buy your life (because that's what labour is) at less than cost because of abundance in supply. This is the one situation in which the free market CANNOT create its own solution, because it is a founding principle of America that all have the right to life, so this one part of the market needs to be regulated so that the buyer (employers) cannot buy the product (life) at less than it costs the supplier (employee) to have (live) it.

You can't oversimplify it like that. Though all the other shit they do is also menial, there is much more than that. The problem really lies in the fact that, as another user mentioned, this should be a pit stop in life - not the final destination... Except you can only have so many people rise past it and get "good jobs." Some people aren't fit for higher paying jobs, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have at least a decent basic quality of life.
Where I live, in South Florida, you won't find much for rent cheaper than 1,500/mo (unless it's in the hood or in a 55+ community). This will get you a 700-900 sq ft box in lost cases. If you're making 15/hr and working full 40 hr work weeks, you're grossing 2400/mo which means you've got maybe 2k left after taxes, insurance, etc give or take. Take away rent and you're left with 500 for car (you will not survive in most places in Florida without a car so this is non negotiable), groceries, phone, etc. Little to no room for saving/401k, emergency funds, incidental expenses, etc.
Now, I don't want to pay a fucking McDonald's worker 15/hr because the prices are only going to go up since the people running these companies have little compassion for their workforces... Third, that the “system” actually wants people to be able to climb up the ladder. Simply put, if everyone becomes middle management then middle management becomes entry level. People at the top want folks to look down on. Furthermore, climbing the ladder to success isn’t merit based. Getting a better job requires knowing someone.

The reality is that “entry level” is much harder to rise above if you live in an area without opportunity and you don’t know someone who will give you a helping hand up the ladder of prosperity.

No one gets paid what they deserve. They get paid what people are willing to do the job for. Now if no one will do it for less than 15 an hour so be it. But people with zero skills need jobs that don't require them and people with zero skills can't afford to be picky.

Every job is a "real job" and as long as you are working full time you deserve to afford to live.
