Especially not the sort that Communism produces. Turns out we benefit from a constant free-for-all of competition of companies trying to outdo their competitors on quality, features, and price. Under Communism, every item is produced by a monopoly that will never have any competition, and can never make a profit. There's no inherent reason to improve anything or try to produce more of it.
That's why in 1991, Soviet cars were literally 60 years behind Western ones, and their electronics industry basically didn't exist. The majority of Soviet citizens who even OWNED a TV had black-and-white ones. It's fucking horrifying.

Real hard to make communism work when you've got the world's biggest military and economy encircling you, couping your friends, and bribing their workers to keep them immune from the truth. But there's still communist states around after the end of the Cold War, and there's no fascist states left over from the end of WWII, and liberalism's currently falling apart. So I'd say of the three main ideologies, communism's the most stable, all things considered. Every late capitalist cycle will bring more countries into the communist fold, and more of those will stay communist until eventually the whole world is communist.

If you don't understand that capitalism has produced this "problem" which is literally unique in human history, you don't understand history.
Capitalism has produced so much abundance, and has made so much of everything so unbelievably cheap, that the bottom portion of the income pyramid, who has before always lived either on the edge of starvation or literally starving, has so much food available to them that they are fatter than Roman Emperors.
One of the reasons Lenin's slogan of BREAD, LAND, PEACE included BREAD was because the Russian peasantry and even the relatively-affluent (for that time in that country) was used to going hungry most of the time.
Now, we all live in a situation where the poor have so much bread, they've become so fat it's causing health problems. Where the biggest issue with the food supply is that we burn so much of it because we've made so much at such low cost it's not worth trying to sell.
Nothing has ever, ever, lifted so many out of poverty as capitalism.

Dude I worked in rural South America for years, where the average wage is a couple bucks a day. Those people would crawl over broken fucking glass to live in our inner cities. There aren't any fat people in rural Tachira. There isn't hot running water anywhere, there isn't running water in the poorer houses. The diet is rice and beans, with a little meat once or twice a week, and a few guys saving up to buy a garrafa of aguardiente to get shitfaced on every Sunday night.

I just don't have that much faith in people. Like, for instance, there are plenty of people out there that would doom a million people to certain starvation if it covered a payment on their third yacht. There are people that would think real hard about the situation, break out a calculator, take that deal anyway, and then fucking post on their blog about how fucked up a place the world is because they can't even find a restaurant or bar that's open. You know, because they killed the economy so hard that everyone straight up died.
For example we have plenty of people here in the US right now that would gladly take financial ruin and/or death to easily preventable and treatable disease, over having to live with the thought that someone they've never met and never will meet might get their medical issues taken care of even though they may not have a job. I lived there every single day, and worked there every single day, and those guys were my friends and the most desperate drug-addicted welfare mom lives like an Egyptian empress compared to them. And this was back during the "good times" under Chavez -- I cannot imagine how fucking horrible it is there now.
Do I wish they had more? Of course I do. But I laugh in the face of anyone who cries about "the poor" in our country. There are no poor in our country.

My wife's uncle died waiting for cancer treatment in Canada, after he waited two weeks to see his doctor, who told him his little lump on his shoulder was just a mole. A year-plus later, he started feeling really sick and getting headaches, so after another week to see his doctor, he got scheduled for some tests at a lab, and a mere 10 days later he was in to see them, whereupon a few days later they got back to him and told him he had stage 4 melanoma. Then he was put on a mere 3-month high priority list to start treatment, and a month into that they switched him to palliative, and then he died.
So no system is perfect. Down here, he'd probably have been into a lab for tests that afternoon, gone for treatment and gone bankrupt from massive medical bills, but he'd be alive. And I think, given the choice, I'd rather be bankrupt and alive than financially solvent while having my organs and bones being slowly eaten by an undiagnosed disease.

It's simple economics. Under a for-profit system, there is an incentive to treat. The doctor makes money by seeing patients, the lab makes money by testing, the hospitals make money from treating people. Everyone has an incentive to treat, which is why we're so over-MRI'd and over-scanned and tested and diagnosed.
In universal health care systems, there is a hard budget limit for how much they can do, that can't be exceeded. There is thus an incentive NOT to treat. If you're a doctor, sending a 50-50 case to the lab to get examined means that there will be someone who could need the test who will NOT get examined. So doctors err on the side of "you'll be ok"
And that decision killed my wife's uncle in a very slow and horrible way.
No system is perfect, of course. But I personally know of one slow gruesome horrible preventable death, in my family, that wouldn't have happened here.
