If you aren't paying for the product, you are the product. Do your research, find a VPN that doesn't keep records, pay for the service. If that sounds hard or costly, then stick to normie sites.

>pay for the service
yay, you now have successfully added your credit card number to your business on the internet...really smart. tho free services are as you say not much better

It's legal to have a VPN. What matters is if they keep records.

not where i am from, and to clarify you can hide your ass behing 20 proxys for all i care but your ISP knows exactly what you are up too

not trying to be na ass for the sake of being an ass. just trying to say. be really carefull and know exactly what you are doing when you do it

>only using a VPN
Yeah, stick to normie sites. You're just going to get yourself in trouble.

If you're behind a VPN you're ISP won't know anything unless you have a DNS leak.

erm by my knowledge the route is like this
pc
router
isp
vpn
website
this guy is right tho.

Gonna sound like a shill, but Private Internet Access has a history of basically giving the FBI nothing.

technadu.com/private-internet-access-wins-against-fbi/30987/

Well not exactly,

It's actually -

PC/VPN (Secured with SSL/TLS encryption which encrypts traffic from your PC)

Router - Traffic is encrypted so cannot be read

ISP - Traffic is still encrypted and ISP don't have the key.

VPN relay/exit node - Where you're request is unencrypted.

Website -

Go for Nordvpn, they have a proven history of no logs and had a recent audit where this was further proved.

proves what i know. but wont your ISP be the last step in getting info from the site to your pc?
for instance. they know i am here but they can not see what i am doing here

TOR and proxy... literally that’s more than enough work for anyone to find you

You’ll be fine

Nope. All traffic is encrypted, and routed through the VPN and then back to you. ISP can see you're connecting to a VPN server, but they can't see where it's going or what it is beyond that.

Yea without a VPN your ISP would see what sites you browse to and when and such.

With a VPN that traffic is encrypted and shows up on their system as SSL/TSL encrypted traffic which they will not be able to read/decrypt. (Having worked for 2 ISP's and used these systems myself)

With the VPN the data is encrypted while in the hands of the ISP 100% of the time, so the ISP will only ever see TSL/SSL traffic (As the traffic is encrypted on the way back from the website, once it hits the VPN server before reaching your ISP)

and this is why i stick to normie sites. i am bound to fuck it up. but thanks for clearing that one up

Honestly it's as easy as downloading their application and clicking a button, they even have sites that can tell you if it's working correctly or if you have a DNS leak.

TBH tor is enough protection.

You dont need a vpn for most stuff anyways.

thanks but as you can tell i did some research on this. and this is just not for me, i suck at handling pc's but i am smart enough to know not to touch this without the full knowledge of the inner workings. i can write out a song as i hear it in real time for you, but IT stuff is like algebra for me.

PS hasn't tor been compromised to the point only government run websites on there?

You don't need a vpn just to browse, maybe if actually doing sketchy shit

Nah tor isn't compromised (As a whole anyway) there are attacks out there that can mean tor could be vulnerable in certain circumstances but generally nah it's fine.

Fair enough, better safe than sorry :)
