Do you guys think it would be possible for me to save up for a Supra?

I’m a 20 year old college student, but I have scholarships and grants that pays for all of my schooling. So I won’t have to worry about where I live since that’s paid for. I still have two more years.

Work is ehh, I don’t get paid much. And I’m not working at this moment, too. I’m going to get another job in a few months when I move back for school, but it’ll most likely be minimum wage like my other job. I also do postmates and door dash, but that barley brings in money.

I just think about it more, and I think that if I were to save every penny I had for years, maybe I’d have the money to do it. On average, the car goes on a range of 50-100k (USD) from what I’ve seen.

I’d have to give up on some stuff though. I don’t smoke, drink, or do drugs. So I wouldn’t be spending money on that since most of the people I know spend a lot of money going out to festivals and partying. The only things I spend money on are books, video games, food, and movies.

What do you guys think? Should I try and go for the Supra? It’d be a lot of work, but fuck it would be amazing if I can make it happen.

Or should I settle for a different import? Am I being unrealistic? I’m still young, in school, and have yet to begin an actual career yet.

But my dad had nothing as a kid, he worked hard, and he got himself a mustang when he was 17.

Serioulsly, don’t get a Supra. I know it’s a dream of a Car and iconic but till that thing runs it will cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. At your age I wouldn’t invest in Cars, especially JP/UK Imports.

And I’ve been working around cars my whole life. My dad pushed it on me, so maintaining wouldn’t be an issue really. He’s into muscle cars and all that, but I was more of a sports car kind of guy.

It’s not like I’m saving up for a Testarosa or a Countach. If I told you that I was trying to save for either one of those two or a Daytona, then I would be a retard for even asking.

Don't piss your money away on a car, espcially a 20+ year old car that has almost certainly been abused. Even assuming you get one that is literally cherry, do you have any idea what insuring that shit will run you? You want to buy a cool car, fine. I totally get it. Go out an get a used corvette, you can pick them up comparatively cheap. And you won't habe blown 75 large on a car you have no hope of maintaining. Look man, you sound driven, and probably pretty bright. Buy something cheaper that you can afford, and save the cash like you're saving for the Supra. Then go out and buy some land and a house with it. It will serve you far better.

get an E92 335i. Cheap and the N54 is pretty much a 2JZ anyway

I mean if you just want a supra, about 30k will get you an N/A automatic, which isn't much at all.
Now if you're talking a TT T-Top 6-Speed manual, then yeah, you're looking at about 70k.

The thing is that I don’t need a car. I have a car that serves me well for its purpose.

I don’t need this car at all. But when I drive a Porsche for the first time, I understood the feeling a certain car can give you. A Prius is great an all, but it’ll never give you that feeling.

And the Supra is just so appealing. It’s different. I can settle for a Corvette or an 180SX for a reasonable price, but that’s not the same. I understand that I’ll probably struggle trying to save up for this, but I want to try.

It’ll probably be a fruitless effort, but you never know if you don’t try.

OP. I'm not here to dash your dreams. I'm here to be realistic. I'll take my dream car for example. Something that is almost impossible to get here in my state legally because of laws and what not. I know that I can get this car right now if I wanted to. The reason I don't is because of the headache that comes with it by owning it. Owning a 20+ year old care is no joke. It requires constant maintenance and parts that are becoming scarce. And not to mention, if you own a turbo car, you must have turbo money. I say this because a replacement turbo and all of the parts and time it takes to fix it may be upwards of almost 3-4000 grand on the cheap side. You must be smart about this and think to yourself that while you can't afford it right now, maybe in 10 years you'll have a career that will afford you a much better, much faster car.

If you buy a supra in a few years by magically coming up with the money, you better believe that by the time you get it fixed, it will break something else.

If you want that 2jz..then just get an is359 and turbo that. It'll be significantly cheaper and you can join all day.

If you're not going to buy it for another 12 years then it shouldn't even really be on your mind that much. Especially since by that time the import restrictions will have been relaxed.
But yes if you save your money and are smart you'll go far and can have nice things.

hey fag heres what you do. save your money, invest it and figure out how to grow it in to a lot of money, there are plenty of ways. then you can get 2 supra's easily along with shitloads of other stuff
