Move back

I remember having a crazy Italian incel in my german class. He always talked so much shit.

>I get mad
sounds like a nigger

I lived in Germany for 5 years. I tried to learn German but eventually I gave up. The locals just don't let you use it, you start talking and they automatically switch to English. So after a while I just rolled with it and spoke to them in English like they apparently want us amerifags to do.

it's better than to listen to the mutilation of our language.

well you can't learn a new language without using it. I don't mind not using it, but there are hypocrites who whine about having to know english but discourage any english speaker living there from really learning it.

You would think they'd at least appreciate the effort, not start speaking to you like you're a retarded child.

Fuck off germanfag, why can't y'all appreciate a little effort from outsiders?

in which cities?

I lived/worked in Heidelberg

checked

only spoiled physician/lawyer childs live there (student city)

yeah pretty much. also tourist city. I see more chinese tourists taking selfies in front of trash cans/in the middle of the street than I do Germans.

It also made it difficult to learn because the working language at my job (research institute) was english, so there was like no chance to practice outside of classes, which I couldn't spend a ton of time in because of work.

study something with more fun (I know it's to late now) - like physics. physicist drink and party

you should find a tandem-partner then. heidelberg is a university city. i guess some of them are happy to practice english

I did, actually (a sub-field of physics, anyway). The people I worked with were all pretty cool but most of them were either 20-30 years older than me or 10 years younger than me (students), so I was more on my own.

you are confusing that the two groups are the same. I will not talk English to you if you are living here. Period. Can't understand me? Too fucking bad, this isn't some English speaking country. Assimilate or fuck off

congrats to make it to Heidelberg, though. its pretty well known as the tip of the iceberg for some research fields.

good for you, that's your right and I wouldn't complain, I'd just apologize and move on. You don't have to be a dick about it though if i'm actually trying and just don't know enough. I'm not barging into your restaurant with my cowboy hat and fannypack and american flag shirt shouting "HEY Y'ALL WHERES THE GOT DANG MC DONALDS I NEED ME A BIG MAC" or anything

Yeah at least as far as Europe goes it's one of the most active cities in my field. There were 3 separate institutes studying what I did in the same city, which is just crazy.

based!

seems like, they finally pinpointed the center of the universe in Heidelberg
