People are protesting the strict abortion laws, but boycotting the entire state isn’t the way to go. It’s a simple-minded liberal idea where nothing has to be done in order to feel good about yourself. The lawmakers are the ones at fault, and they will be largely unaffected by the boycott unlike many of the people affected by the laws the supporters wish to aid via boycott. Your analogy also somewhat describes Alabama. We're largely either extreme-right or extreme-left. I moved here some time ago, left for a number of years, and returned in stead of being homeless. I've changed, and I definitely don't fit in politically with pretty much anyone here.
I say fuck 'em all. When white lefties either move away or pour even more densely into the four urban(ish) areas, and major corporations flee the state, I expect housing prices to decrease significantly, and job availability to increase. It's a win-win for me.
