Sorry fren. In 2011 my puppy died alone in his cage. I felt horrible, couldn't shake the idea that he spent his last moments alone, scared, and confused.

Try not to think of the moments you couldn't be there. You're a person with a life and responsibilities beyond your buddy. Think of the times you spent together, and how happy you made him.

I had a friend who's dog died suddenly as well. He thinks he had a heart attack or something. It was pretty young (3-4) years old I think.

Sorry about your pupper. I'm sure I'll go ballistic when something happens to my dog. So I can't imagine how you must feel.

It's important to remember that when you think about it from the dogs point of view, life is pretty chill, you cared for him, have him affection , food, shelter and safety. I'm sure he appreciated that very much

Dude this sucks. I'm sorry man. Much love OP!

about a year ago my cat died somewhat like that. i live in the countryside so i let her out to climb trees, hunt and so on. i fed her in the morning and left and when i came back she was nowhere to be found. i hoped she will show up, i called for her but nothing. the next morning i brought over my father's dog to look for her and it did. she was in a patch of tall grass in the garden of the abandoned house next door, dead and frozen solid and there were a couple more more dead cats in there - a stray and one belonging to a neighbor.
all 3 poisoned

i'm sorry op what was his name?

The whole point of having a pet is feeling superior to it, so outliving it is actually the peak of petkeeping. Be happy you are of the superior species, humanon
