Salesman, yes.

This is not sales though.
Sales would be if you were pimp but it's kind of legal grey area.

How was it?
Income?
Fulfillment?

$6,000 and a Cadillac car!

Spent 10 years in Software Sales and the highs are high and the lows are low. There is no job security. You're only as good as your last sale. The general ethos is what have you done for me lately. The grind never stops. It can provide great flexibility if you are hitting your numbers and you have accounts on lock. I had that for 5 years in the middle of my 10 year run.

Got tired of all the shit, the never ending and increasing quotas and said fuck this, got cloud certs, and now work as a sales engineer. No more quotas. I'm there to technically backup the sales rep. It doesn't pay as well at the top end, but it pays pretty consistent and there is far less stress.

Yea I'm not a stockbroker...I've had success with sales jobs tho. Mainly cutthroat telemarketing! Woot woot!

I worked for XENTEL. INC hahaha Google em

Oh yeah! Hey I worked for AFR GROUP INC and they closed down and owed me approx $1000-$1500 depending on bonus...and I filed a labor claim...nothing. They ripped us all off 10 yrs ago.

Google:

"ANDREW FRANK ROBINSON houseboat"

that's the guy! Seriously!

I enjoyed the selling, not my boss so much.
I was making $15/hour for doing practically nothing, he didn’t offer commissions otherwise I would have doubled or tripled that with my sales, since I upsold a lot of firearms with a ton of needed accessories.
I enjoyed the hell out of it - after the sell, I’d take the client back to the shooting range and show them how to use whatever they bought and then encourage new shooters to come to our firearms classes with a silver or gold package upsell.
It was a great gig, just wish I had a better boss - he’s the reason why I quit.

Telemarketer
Office to office supplies
Insurance/ investments
Food product sales

What do you wanna know?

I'm an oil broker if you would like to ask me anything regarding the role

Do you like it?
When (age) did you start?
How long have you been doing it?
Income?
Job fulfilment?
Confidence? It's essential right?

> still junior so my basic is 50k but make 2-3 times that in bonus. Some guys earn 10x that
>you're not there for anything but money so you kind of sign up for the idea that you're not there for anything else
>good communication, maths ability and the ability to work under pressure are paramount

I sell soda, ama

Have done/am doing. If you are highly self motivated you can make a fuck load of money. If you require guidance, stay away. Seriously.

The grind will eat your fucking soul. But if you can stave off the low periods with self confidence, you can make your own gold bars.

Not many people have self confidence of that level. I'm still trying to figure out if I have it.

>Not many people have self confidence of that level
Thanks.
I have ridiculously no confidence so I don't think I will make it.

Started out of college back in 2011 because I couldnt find a job in the field I studied in. What's new right.

Had those jobs up until last summer when the last sales job I had was as a rep for New York life. You gain people skills of course but the real value I found was in knowing the ins and outs of the products I sold. Ie life, disability, LTC insurance as well as investments like knowing about stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities etc.

All of these things have value and lm going to incorporate them into my life as I go so it's nice knowing what the fuck I'm doing without someone elses help.

Income was ok (45-50K) but it comes in waves and with vicious student loans it's no good. That's part of what did it in for me. The other part was the "owne your own business" culture they kept trying to push. You didnt own any business. You had a manager that you had to report numbers and time off to and that manager had to report to someone and so forth. You had to show up to an office for bs meetings that didnt last as long as your commute to the office, literally. So in actuality I was just a grunt salesman.

Finally tho it was the people you deal with. Even if you put forth real professionalism and honesty people will always take advantage of your time and in general not give a shit about you. To me sales is good in a thriving economy not burdened down by regulations which I got caught up in that grinder as well but that's another story.

Those that are wildly successful are 20% good at what they do and 80% lucky. Not trying to take anything away from those people but I met people i was sure were more qualified than me for the job that got burned out in mere weeks.

I can't say if you'd make it or not. You have to try it. But honestly, I want to reiterate, you must have or father immense self confidence. It's a forward facing job that REQUIRES you to convince people of things they themselves are not convinced of.
