This. My cats are aged 17 and 16. One got sick as a kitten from a UTI but recovered quickly. They've been healthy since, and despite their old age, they still get around well and will still roughhouse with each other.

I've owned 8 in my lifetime. Three were strays. Two of them lived to be 18 and 22. The other is still alive, but she's still young.
I know plenty. My youngest cat death was at 12 years and she had severe cancer that took her over the course of about two weeks.
