i was talking to a classmate and we're both on residency together. he said he couldn't wait to get a well paying job because he had a family to support. i said i just wanted to get a well paying job also, although i don't have any family to support.
then he proceeded to say "oh don't worry, it'll come." no it won't, but why would that even need to be said?

You sure about that? Someday ass cancer is coming for you. Instead of being cared for by a loved one, someone who cares, you will instead recieve the cold clinical care of some nurse who doesn't even speak your language. You'll suffer on some ward surrounded by other lonley only men who are dying of cancer. Each night before the sleeping meds kick in you get to hear them crying and screaming. Wishing they had it different. Wishing they had someone who cared. Then you go to sleep only do it all over again. Another day of no visits. Just being man handled out of bed again for a scrub down by someone who wished you were dead.

You've gotta be a tough mf'er to keep going on your own. It wears you down, sooner or later you lose the ability to make friends. Every interaction you have with others is done distrustfully and there has be some trade off, some reason why someone's trying to help or talk to you. People see it in you and they naturally keep their distance. You want friends so badly but no ones taking that chance on the wide eyed stranger who's sat drinking alone with a 1000yrd stare.
You are in college, learn to make friends and learn to accept help. One day lifes going to come down on you hard and your going to need help.
