As near as I can tell, it's a generational thing but for many older Jews, the answer is yes. Listen to Howard Stern talk about Israel some time. He literally sees Israelis as innocent victims surrounded by people who want to kill all Israelis simply because they are Jewish (while in reality, people resent Israel's atrocities, such as the flotilla massacre).
