It was higher quality back when medical marijuana laws first got passed. That made it legal(ish) to grow and distribute specific strains to dispensaries wheras the street stuff at the time was still homegrown or shit smuggled in from Mexico or wherever, and quality varied greatly. Today it's mostly a nonissue.
