I'm strongly considering going to Germany next year (particularly Berlin), but out of curiosity I looked up flights to Stockholm and Copenhagen from New York, and they're both slightly shorter and considerably cheaper.
The latter fact surprised me. I have been interested in going to both Sweden and Denmark, so th

I'm a 24 year old straight male from New York and I prefer warm weather, but I assume that everywhere will be warm enough (even if not hot) in the summer.
I love eating and drinking. I'm assuming the nightlife hierarchy in this case is Berlin>Copenhagen>>>Stockholm, but I could be wrong about that.
Even though the flights to the Scandinavian countries are cheaper, would I be correct in assuming that the savings would be eaten up by higher cost of doing things in Scandinavia as opposed to Germany?
I'm finding package deals to fly to Berlin and stay there for 1 week for for people, at about 900 dollars per person. Same thing with Copenhagen.Does that sound too good to be true?

May, June, July, and August I believe are the best months in all of Scandinavia. Recommend you go around then!

Generally speaking, Europe and Scandinavia is not as expensive as people would have you think. If you're OK with hostels there shouldn't be a problem keeping your savings.

What are your thoughts on the last part of my post? I found a one week flight and travel package in both Berlin and Copenhagen for under 1000 dollars (shared among 4 people)

The price is OK I guess. But it's hard to give my opinion there cuz being Scandinavian and thinking about going to New York e.g. (never been to US), I would expect to spend $1,000 for a week I guess, it's a far as fuck flight and hugely money oriented place so makes sense.. Rent a car and go all out "the American way".

But if you're coming to e.g. Copenhagen that's not how it's like at all. No Dodge Rams everywhere or however it is in N.Y.C. I don't know. Anyway. If it's $250 per person for flight and stay that's pretty sweet for a Denmark trip or Berlin whatever. $1,000 for one person to chill with some Dansk ol though I don't think so..

do NOT rent a car if you go to NYC, unless you plan on doing a road trip or something. NYC public transit is just like Europe, but even better because it's 24/7.
And how is that price bad exactly for Northern European standards? That's 6 nights of hotel, plus flight, and a non shitty hotel.
I've spent that much for flight and hotel within the US, for only 4 nights.

NYC is not like Muncie, Indiana lol, I would say that 3/4 of the population relies on public transit. Though there are plenty of retards with big SUVs.
And I'm guessing you're Danish?

>I'm assuming the nightlife hierarchy in this case is Berlin>Copenhagen>>>Stockholm, but I could be wrong about that.
You're probably right. As Berlin is the biggest city it's going to offer the most in terms of restaurants, nightlife, sight seeing etc.
However, keep in mind that 1 week is not that much time, and you're likely not going to have the energy to do things all. the. time.

Copenhagen and Stockholm are smaller which means you can walk everywhere if you want (though Stockholm has a really good subway system), and their old town districts are way more beautiful than Berlin's. I'd place Stockholm at the top in that regard, its old town district is just full of narrow alleyways, cafés, pubs and beautiful buildings.

>would I be correct in assuming that the savings would be eaten up by higher cost of doing things in Scandinavia as opposed to Germany?
Copenhagen is going to be the most expensive, I think, but the difference between the three is not that big to my knowledge.

>I'm finding package deals to fly to Berlin and stay there for 1 week for for people, at about 900 dollars per person. Same thing with Copenhagen.Does that sound too good to be true?
It does sound like a very good deal, but housing not be ideal. Do you know anything about where you would be staying?

Also, am I better of going to Berlin or Hamburg?

Right, I won't have energy to do everything. I'm actually not one of those travelers who tries to pack a million things into every day. The plan is eating, people watching, and doing at least 1 cultural thing in the day time, and partying at night.
Well, the hotels offered in those deals have mostly good reviews. But I'm not familiar with the neighborhoods of these cities yet. I would want to stay somewhat close to the city center. But I hear Berlin doesn't really have a traditional center?

I've been to Berlin twice and the only thing I really enjoyed were the museums, which are phenomenal. Other than that I found the place too big to enjoy. Your assessment about a city center is right as far as I can remember.
Public transportation there is good so you won't have too much of a hassle getting in an out, though.

Obviously I'm a bit biased as I'm Scandinavian but I would definitely pick Copenhagen or Stockholm.

If you go to Copenhagen you could visit Christiania (google it) and take the train to Malmö and visit Sweden for a day. Having grown up in Malmö, though, I can say it's not THAT exciting and I wouldn't let it influence your decision too much.

Stockholm is beautiful and you could walk around for hours, always ending up somewhere neat. If you get lost you're always close to a subway station. You could also take the train to Uppsala and spend an afternoon here, which I DO recommend as it's got some really cool things to see if you're into history. Huge castle (though a little dull looking), cathedral, oldest university in Uppsala, cafés and pubs all along the river, parks, botanical gardens, it's just a really nice place.

Part of the reason I'm leaning towards Berlin or at least Germany is because it's cheaper (the beers at least) and seems like the nightlife is more wild.
I read about Christiania and it sounds cool, I would like to check it out.
I would love to go to Sweden too, but i think I'm gonna go with Denmark if I choose Scandinavia.
One thing I want to avoid doing is taking 6 hour train rides, after an 8 hour flight from New York, I won't want to be stuck in boxes any longer than an hour or so.

Also Swedish crown is extremely rarely cheap atm comapred to dollar and euro

So it's a good time to go there?

As far as Stockholm>Uppsala is concerned, it's not even an hour.

If clubbing is your end goal however, then Berlin is probably your best bet

Frozen yogurt is like 9 dollars in Norway. Everything’s very expensive lol

This thread again huh?

Not just clubbing. Actually, I would say nightlife in general rather than specifically clubbing. I like cozy bars too.
But that's just part of it, I'm also interested in food, people watching, seeing pretty things, walking around, etc.

sweden and denmark aren't the ones who are expensive when speaking about scandinavia

it's Norway. Never come to Norway on a budget.

Attached: 1331587653946.png (804x698, 97K)

Why is Norway so much more expensive despite being a similar country to Sweden and Denmark?

bump

they have oil and that has caused a increase in all prices

why would that lead to things being more expensive for their own citizens?

Because the other Scandinavian countries are agriculturally self sufficient, but the majority of Norwegian soil is not arable - it's either rock, or frozen solid. Mountains, cliffs, etc. result in very little arable land, so anything related to agriculture is most likely imported, which hikes up the prices. Then sprinkle some oil money on top, and that's what you get.

dont go to berlin it smells like shit there 4real

I'd say Berlin is your best bet. Never been to Copenhagen, but I went to Berlin on study trip a few months back. The railway system is a such a breeze in Berlin, at least compared to Stockholm. You got this paper ticket you stamped and then could get on whatever line you want until 3 am the next day. Eating is also very well prized. I easily managed on a food budget of $25 a day, but be aware that they expect you to tip pretty much everywhere.

Eating can be pretty expensive in Stockholm, but there are some bars with a really fair pricing. Look for Hirschenkeller, Hällströms or Klostret if you're looking for beer. The city is small but pretty cosy, especially around Djurgården and Gärdet. If you have any more questions about Stockholm, feel free to ask.

Come to Berlin in August and don't go anywhere else. There's plenty to do here and it fucking rips the dick off anywhere else in Europe.

Also tip guy wtf. You tip like a euro on a thirty euro meal. It's nothing. Beer is cheap. The transportation system is cheap and 24 hr. The girls are hot and like to party. It's easy to get drugs. There's lots of cool parks to chill and swim in after a night out. You could be here for three months and not even get close to seeing anything.

Hang around Rosenthaler Platz, Warschauer Straße, and Hackescher Markt/Monbijou during the day. Swim and chill at Weißensee. Check out Gleisdreieck Park or Viktoria Park or Görlitzer Park (for dope).

Also, Berlin is a must if you're interested in European history. There are many remains from the wars and especially The Wall. You can see on the houses if you're in former east or west Berlin and there are still bullet holes in most old monuments there. Actually seeing it makes more impact than any book or documentary on the subject.

Dude they wanted tip for using a fucking public bathroom at a mall. Fuck right off with that shit

Attached: k_539.png (550x600, 245K)

Ah, makes sense. Yet incomes and QOL are still very high

It's not a tip. Everywhere 'public' charges 50c to use public bathrooms. That's why they aren't filthy. Are you that fuckin poor?

It seems like tipping in Europe is so inconsistent. How do I know which countries do and don't?
What are the best nightlife areas in Stockholm?

I think I'm gonna spend the whole week in Berlin. What are your favorite bars/clubs?
How do I know how much to tip?

You must visit Copenhagen, its a really unique capital you wont find anything like it in the world. Its a really chill and beautiful city with nice places to see Culture & history and also good women and a crazy nightlife.

You come in the right time the summer is where the scandinavian countries comes to life.

But yeah clubbing is Berlin>Copenhagen>>>Stockholm i can say this because i been there and clubbing those 3 places. Berlin got massives clubs its just far from eachother, Copenhagen got many nice clubs and bars which all are "walkable close" in the mid city. Stockholm closes early and their drinks are expensive. The swedish crown is not worth much at the moment which makes up for the alcohol price abit tho.

I would only expect to pay for street toilets. Germans charge for bathrooms at malls too?

And do any European countries still have pissoirs?

Berlin also wins points for me since you can smoke in the bars/clubs

I hadn't thought of the "walkability" factor, thanks for letting me know. I'm still leaning towards Berlin but Copenhagen wins some points for being more convenient in that sense.

btw you DONT need to TIP in scandinavia its not nessecary they get paid hourly not by tips. But if you want to be kind and you have received good service you can do it if you want to.

Fly from jfk to Frankfort you dumb nigger

Same in Copenhagen you can smoke in almost every club and bar. They got smoke rooms

Which countries in Europe are tips expected in? Are any like the US where 20% is expected? I'm not cheap so I don't mind, I just want to know.

Tip like the change to the next euro? Or like two Euros for a sit down meal of two or three people? Nobody expects tips really at all.

Watergate, Tresor, FarbFernseher, Wilde Renate, about blank. For like legit club experiences. Or anywhere near Revaler Straße like suicide circus

Fairytale bar, buck and Breck, mein haus am See, Common ground (on the weekend) for more chill spots.

It's full fuckin lit and we go off hard in the summer lol.

Some bathrooms in public will charge 50 cents. Bathrooms at restaurants will not.

No, but that bathroom smelled like shit. If the toilets are fresh, I don't mind paying, like there was one place in Hauptbahnhof where you payed €1 to enter and it felt like it was the same hygiene standards as in a hospital

Aren't some of those clubs really selective about who gets in?

It's crazy to pay for bottled water like ever but then expect some place to deal with your excretions for free lol.

Attached: 6268650612.jpg (1884x1454, 171K)

None of those ones are really at all. They let you in and no lines if you aren't dressed like an idiot or wasted. You can get into Berghain too you just need to show up at 7AM Sunday morning.

Berlin and Munich are Germanys most expensive cities. I would not travel there.

Kopenhagen is really fuckibg expensive. A meal any restaurant will cost 30 euro. Stockholm is a nice little city, but one trip will be enough for your whole life. I recommend Berlin for the different activities. Also you can get cheap food and drinks. Germans like to party.

I'm eating a chicken shish kebab sandwich that's enough for two meals right now and it cost me four euros. Everything is cheap af in Berlin to an American.

Should I consider Hamburg?

Beer at German bars is even cheaper than middle America

Which girls have the best buttholes? German, Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish?

Hamburg is beautiful. Not cheap, but also not as expensive as Berlin or Munich.

You are just proving my point. Everywhere else that Döner (kebab) is 2€.

What are the most commonly drunk beers in Germany? Oettinger and Krombacher?

Fuck off. We got like 5000 sorts.

What do you and your buddies typically drink?

When a Döner costs 2 euros, you traveled back in time to 2005, or you are literaly eating garbadge.

you
should
go2
> THAI
land , LAND of the sMILEs

5000 sorts using the same four ingredients and process that is

So does the US

Depends what we like to drink at this exact moment. Everybody got a different kind of tast, so I can not recommend anything specific. Avoid kölsch, oettinger, radeberger, heineken, carlsberg and becks.

The US has better beer than Germany overall, but they do have some pretty good traditional beers. And they do the "plain lager" thing very well.

>avoid the 10 most commom beers in Europe

Döner is Always garbage. Do NOT eat Döner thos places run by arabian clans and serve only the purpose of money laundring. They use Gammelfleisch (rotten meat) and they tend to to be islamists hating our society.

What about Wolter's?

Are white Germans willing to serve me cheapish food at 5AM?

So you are saying they must taste the same, why ask what taste the best? You don't know shit about beer.

Just go to mc donalds or burgerking or any other burger place.

Also if you are going to travel to Germany you should go to a cllassic German restaurant with superior German dishes.

In a different guy. I just enjoy irritating Germans about beer, it’s like a sport.

Last night I went to the pub and had a pint of mild. Come at me bro

> Doner

> Arabian

Pick one you halfwit

Yes. That is fucking right. If you don't know why, I recommend you drink something else.

Of course, but I doubt they would be open during clubbing hours. I hope I'm wrong, though.

It's the same thing in the US. Euros make fun of Americans for having bad beer, but in reality it's only the mass produced stuff that's bad (but it really isn't much different from the cheap European stuff)

Is there any chance I can hook up with a German girl who's not a prostitute? I am handsome and sweet but short

A good Restaurant won't be open at night, ofcourse. But you realy don't Need to go to that shady Döner places. Go for McDonalds or for an asian place at night and you'd be fine. It is also much more safe not only concerning the Food but also not getting robbed from an asian guy, but in those Döner places they see that you are a wealthy american and after you ate their shitty meat, they might follow you and jump you.

Short isn’t a problem. Describing yourself as ‘sweet’ might be

>fly to Frankfurt
>train to Berlin
>win

Its not, the wages are high so the prices are "high".

Oh and btw if they offer you drugs and you decline. They become very Angry.

I can confirm that. Berlin is a rough city especially at night time.

Im from Denmark and live in Copenhagen. I like to think that its a nice tourist city except its somewhat expensive

Bruder, don't listen to those deutsche Kartoffeln (that's how we call the native Germans, because they eat so much potatos) Berlin has the best Döner in EU! Ich schwöre, digga!

Im from Denmark and live in Copenhagen. I like to think that its a nice tourist city except its somewhat expensive

Kanaken raus!!!!

nowhere in Western Europe is "rough". I'm from the US where we have cities with 3rd world murder rates

MUT ZUR WAHRHEIT - AFD WÄHLEN!

> I'm from the US where we have cities with 3rd world murder rates
Those cities you are reffering to are not rough either. They are warzones, that is many levels above rough. That is is like nightmagre difficulty in Doom.
Rough discribes Berlin pretty good.

So do you guys think 850-900 dollars is a good deal or at least reasonable for one week stay in Copenhagen or Berlin plus airfare from New York?

Probably, but if you go to Berlin you Need to plan in that ontop of that 900 Dollars, you' prolly need another 800 € for the Things you want to do and for meals and stuff. Berlin is very expensive.

I expect to spend around that much. Although I can probably cut down on that if I skip breakfast, and buy some cold cuts and bread to make sandwiches.

What about Norway and Finland nightlife?

bump

SSSSSKKKKKKKKKKÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅÅLLLLLL

who has better buttholes, Swedish girls, Norwegian girls, Danish girls, or German girls?

Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is tiny and shite

Lol, $15 for a subway foot long isn't expensive. $13 for a pint of beer is cheap. $1500 a week for a hotel is dirt cheap! $12 for 1 Kg of frozen chicken breasts isn't expensive. $80 taxi ride is cheap

does Sweden have uber?
