Yeah, for the most part. Until they get pregnant literally as soon as orders come down for their unit to deploy anywhere. Knew a CPT in the 82nd (of all places), was "high speed/low drag" when she got to the unit as a 2LT, everyone liked & respected her and the Battalion Cdr loved having her on his staff.

Then we got orders for OND. Only spent 7 months in Iraq as we left in April/May & had to be out by end of Dec. That was too much for her. By the time I personally left, she was about 3 months knocked-up. Which is funny because, well...

Let's just say she was the only officer to do that little trick (out of I'm sure were a LOT of enlisted women who did it), and her prestige in the unit suffered immeasurably. Heard a lot of grousing about her staying behind due to the impending crumbcruncher, and funny enough only once did it come from a guy. Most of the resentment & anger came from other women.

I guess us guys have had 25+ years to acclimate to the idea of bitches bailing on us when the time comes to put up or shut up, so we're used to it, but other female soldiers take it as a personal slight, like the cunts that do this are setting back the women's equality movement or something.

Whatever. She was pretty much a pariah when we redeployed, & funny enough after her kid was born, she left our Brigade. Wonder why that is, she was such an amazing officer, competent, selfless, all that jazz.

Sorry I don’t know too much about statistics of women’s actual participation in the military, sort of just assumed that they serviced mainly non-combat areas.

Not going to lie it begins with the physical because anyone who says otherwise is a fucking liar. I don’t give a shit about height because I’m 5’1” and everyone’s taller than me but depending on circumstances the shortest I’d do is 5’-4’11”. My current boyfriend is really funny and emotionally supportive even if he secretly doesn’t care so that is good. Easy to talk to, somewhat interesting and have to have things in common. Seems somewhat basic but dating someone you only have a little in common with will leave you feeling like shit.

Oh no. I got out in 2013 & in that time females have been allowed to Ranger School, something I thought would NEVER happen. When I was at Benning for Airborne School (which is right down the road from the 75th Ranger Regiment HQ), during our weekend release safety briefings, special attention was paid to emphasizing to the females "do not go anywhere NEAR the Ranger regiment, if you're out & about chatting someone up & they mention they're from the Ranger regiment, leave immediately. You do NOT want anything to do with the Ranger regiment, stay away from them. What happens at Regiment stays at Regiment, and if you do go there & get yourself in trouble, we will not be able to help you." I'm sure some of that was embellished for clarity, but the message was clear: in a high testosterone all-male environment like that, introducing femininity is a recipe for disaster and it will be your word against the collective word of 400 men.

The only areas of the military that I'm aware of that females have not permeated yet are the Tier One units: Special Forces and Navy SEALs, with a caveat. I can't speak for the Navy, but I do know with 100% certainty that there are females in the SF units in every capacity they're present for in regular units; they're just not "operators".

When it comes to sex, sometimes i feel like my girl is just going through it because I like it. Size wise I think I'm solid. Similar note: I used to hear people in Division talking all the time about how they wanted to go to SERE school (that's taught at Ft. Bragg so it was a local school). Everyone wanted to go, but nobody ever gave a reason other than the bragging rights that come with being a graduate and none of them were in a position to need that block of instruction (like pilot, SF operator, etc). So it was a mystery to me.

Then I heard from someone who said they talked to someone who had graduated & described the course. I'm sure there was some exaggeration, but what it boiled down to was that there was an exercise where you were given an impossible objective specifically designed for you to fail so you would be caught by OPFOR & tortured/put through your paces. It's kind of like an "end of term" exam at school.

The way the guy described it piqued my curiosity, but also kind of explained why it seemed every guy at Bragg wanted that school. The thing that raised my hackles?

Supposedly at one point after being captured, you're taken to a big, brightly lit room, stripped butt naked, and interrogated relentlessly for an undetermined period of time. Sounds like something out of a movie, right? Not too much fun. Well, here's the fun part:

SERE school is coed. And they do EVERYTHING together.
