Don't get sidetracked.

talk to a college career counselor best advice on how to continue

Study part time, work part time. Major in a field that you enjoy, easy : )
If you start at a job while studying, when you finish your degree you'll more than likely get a dramatic pay increase

get a bachelors in something that will teach u how money works

take good care of your mental health, it may affect everything you get to do

>get to do.

Thats it.

my biggest passion is music but to get a degree where i am would require another 2-3 years since most of the credit requirements are music related and i have none. so im torn between spending that time or getting a bach in poli sci or something i could have done in a year or two

to do that i need to make more friends here which would probably require me going back to school. my mental health is decent but i just moved and feel like i lack the support group i had with close friends back home

You're still young and have your whole life ahead of you. Losing one year of your life in exchange for doing something that you really want to do is not going to hurt

objectively true. its just hard to see all your peers graduating knowing you have that much time left and youve been in school just as long

That's definitely a tough hurdle, however ultimately they're going to forget about you, and you're going to forget about them. Your number one concern is yourself so dont worry about them

35 here
-Dont let anything or anyone affect your career unless it's close family
-Take care of your body. So many HS classmates look in bad shape
>Don't waste time with a girl you know isn't the one
>Don't do drugs/alcohol. Already 20+ HS classmates have died from OD'ing, and I grew up in a rich area

Don’t live to work, work to live. Value your free time and also use it to do the things you enjoy. If it takes extra time to get the degree you want then that’s time well invested.

>not even one beer or a weed
Thanks admiral no fun

thanks. i guess im trying to find a balance between my passion and a career, because im not sure how lucrative a music composition degree will end up. even if i end up teaching and composing my own music for a livable wage ill be happy tho. and yeah im pretty consistent with working out and dont drink or do drugs that often

im 20 but still my tip for younger anons is don't smoke weed everyday. i started when i was 15 and i stopped a month ago, it wasn't easy to stop but it's worth it. it's gonna wire your brain differently (and i don't mean the tv series) and make it harder for you to make decisions on your own also weed is a cure for ill people, you're not ill. it's gonna make you satisfied with doing nothing, and that's bad bro

Weed is wisdom, there are no lasting long-term effects.

yeah continue lying to yourself

weed will make you apathetic in the long run and kill your short term memory. i stopped smoking around 19 and my life is wayyy more productive. everyone is different but it generally makes people lethargic and more complacent with their mediocrity. micro dosing on lsd is the way

nah weed is a stimulant, it might be okaay sometimes but if you get addicted then it sucks. anyone saying you can't get addicted to weed doesn't smoke, atleast doesn't smoke as much as me and my friends do. on the other hand MUSHROOMS ARE THE SHIT LOL !

>420 xD

unless you have family that you know will take care of you while you pursue your dreams, preparing yourself to be financially stable is the most important thing you can do.

Buy property and then lease it so somebody else is paying your mortgage. Dunce and repeat 10 times and you’re a millionaire.

my best advice is never ever tell your employer to get fucked and quit, if you do this once in an industry, word will get out and it will be almost impossible to get a job without changing trades etc. if you do it enough it will become almost impossible to get any job at all in the city you live in since you will have a verified history of telling your boss to fuck themselves and at the end of the day employment is less bout the work you do and more about keeping the people you work with happy (unless your the 1 in ten thousand that does something critical that no one else can do which i doubt)

Don't be too picky and "wait" for the perfect job. Get right into something, anything. Even something unrelated with shit pay. Use that time to work towards your ideal spot, when you find the opportunity it's easy to drop the unrelated job with shit pay.

Stick with marketing and start networking.

OP is genuinely concerned about his future and this braindead pothead is suggesting that OP keep his life in a holding pattern. Good job Yea Forums

Get a job and pay your bills. Everyone needs food and shelter. Start a side hustle with your passion. As long as you stick with it that'll open doors and create opportunities. Cultivate and maintain your network. You'll get to build your dream job from the ground up. In roughly about a decade (give or take) you may be able to ditch the wage job and support yourself on your passion.

Also, invest early. 401k or Roth IRA, 500 index funds are a fairly safe route.
