Hey Yea Forums. I've got a problem. I just graduated high school and joined the Navy, I'm in the DEP program until this August. However, my best friend of 9 years wants me to join his upcoming band as a bassist. As much as I want to join him, I also want to do the Navy Nuke program because I'll have security. What would you guys do?

Navy , chances are your friend won't make it . be smart

As a nuke you might get put in a special ops unit for bootcamp. Most nukes dropped out cause they were all losers. If you're a soyboi who wants to make pretty music and play the downgraded guitar go for it. If you want to spend a majority of your naval career working in reactors sweating like a machinists mate send that

And you already signed your life away, navy seps is like outproccesing from other branches. It can take up to 2 months and i'm pretty sure it's a felony to not go to boot camp

Its nothing like it my b, army and airforce have to get you out in 72 hours the navy gets to keep you for a while

Protip: Navy nuke is overworked and under appreciated, even by military standards. You will want to kill yourself. On the other hand, being a bassist for a shitty band will also have you become overworked and under appreciated. Difference is that you’ll be broke as a bassist.

Go Navy, and suck your recruiter’s dick for a better rate. Don’t go nuke, don’t go CBRN, don’t go sub tech. Save yourself.

You’re in DEP until you attend MEPS, get a ship date, then bounce. When you sign a contract your ship date is locked unless you fuck up or fail your IST.

True go yeoman, they travel a shitton. Or logistics specialist can get you great jobs on the other side after your first contract

Ohh I thought dep is delayed entry program which comes after your first meps

It is indeed.
>Sign
>MEPS
>DEP/Ship date assignment
>MEPS
>Basic

You go to MEPS twice.

Wheres op at? Didn't he need advice? Fresh out of high school and ditching the navy to join a band is no bueno unless they're already gigging and living off their music

I just wish I had waited another year before signing on.

Nukes get 90,000 re-enlistment bonuses for 3 year tours....

Going through nuke school is the dumbest fucking thing you can do, failing was the best thing that happened to me

>>/k/

nuke them nuke them all. you know you want it.

I am a nuke ET. Don't be a nuke. If you do go nuke, do NOT go subs. I don't care how much of a brotherhood they say it is, do not do it. Just go some 4 year cheesedick surface rate, study for boot camp and pass your first test and PFA, make rank that way. Get out in 4 and go to school. I have 3 more years left instead of 1 and I hate my life.

3 year tours of ASS. Plus there’s a 25% tax and a possibility you don’t get the bonus if you fuck up and don’t read the contract. I lost my 5k like that.

Do both yo. It just takes proper time management

You're fucking retarded. He gets 30 leave days a year. Do you think he's gonna be stationed in his home town?

Discord is a beautiful thing my friend

Fuck your friend. Literally. Ejaculate in your friend.

He's gonna be in a band over discord?

>”Playing live over the Internet: Dipshits Over Discord!”

This

At least until time passes and he can make more time with his buddies. For now he can make his chords over discord and then when it comes to gigs they can just use a temporary replacement bassist for smaller gigs and he can use some of his off days to head over to bigger gigs. It's tedious now but at least he is putting his foot in the door and living both dreams. Nuke stuff for the four years he's there and then playing some sexy ass bass licks for the rest of his life. So like i said before it's all about time management ye feel?
