What are your final thoughts on red dead redemption 2?

Soulsborne games were always deceptively easy, especially bloodborne and dark souls 3. Roll for I-frames, lots of room for error, it's really just a steep learning curve but once you learn what to do, any average gamer can do a 3-hour any% run no problem.

Sekiro on the other hand, is like max-out tetris with no window in the corner to tell you what piece is coming next. While some bosses and mini bosses can be cheesed, most of them can't, and the reaction time needed to play it has edged a lot of the wannabe "God gamers" out.

In sekiro, you have to focus 100% of the time in combat, keep fighting all the time, make perfect deflections, and you'll get 1-2 fuckups at the most. In soulsbourne, you can pretty much control every situation the way you want to and even downright cheese every boss in bloodborne. Even abhorrent beast can be cheesed with the Simon's bowblade.

Sekiro is not that difficult, even DSP beat it with no real issues. No stamina makes up for not having a crazy roll and the jump seems to have more I-frames than the dodge. But I always liked katanas in souls games, even the Chikage in BB. So I'm pretty used to their range and limitations. Once you learn to break posture and flow with the moveset, I fucking love it.

It was a good ride with a good story, but ultimately it was afixed to rails and there really wasn't a lot to do within the game.

The ending with John was a good hit of feels but they didnt even fucking use half the goddamn map.

Really don't think I'll pick it up on PC if it comes out

It technically does, but they are so few for a game so fast that they are worthless, especially considering the tracking and range of boss/miniboss attacks and the fact that you have to be on the edge of the attack, either in distance or duration, for it to occur. I personally never noticed it either until I was about 20 hours in.

There are absolutely i-frames. They are not many, but an unlimited sprint makes up for it. I would say the I-frames are akin to a DS2 character with no points ADP. They are more for emergencies as parrying is much better way to go for defense.

More importantly, virtually all boss and miniboss attacks are combos, so if you dodge one you'll just get hit by the other. Dodging is how souls players just get rekt in this game. You're supposed to deflect everything unless you see the red symbol, then either jump or dodge depending on the attack. Very specific purposes for two mechanics that aren't meant to be used much at all in combat.

My final thoughts are I avoided the hype and haven't played the game, and I'm smug about that, especially when I learned they inserted some leftist themes into it, so I will not be ruled or influenced by this particular piece of entertainment.
