The weather here is extreme. Summer is hot as hell and winter will freeze you to death. I've had people from NY tell me NC is worse in winter due the the snow here constantly melting and refreezing. It's not snow. I'ts ice...

I actually moved here for a woman when I was 20. We're divorced now but we had a good run and ended amicably after 10 years. You should have seen the look on the shop owners face when I asked what I do to get my F.O.I.D. Card as I was new to the state. Then the look on my face when I was told nothing like that was necessary. The roads outside of metro areas are actually pretty well taken care of and I pay in total like 750/yr for my property taxes coupled with my brand new vehicles tax/tag. My girlfriends parents live up in NJ and they pay something like 12k/yr for less than an acre and a smallish house as well as their vehicles. I'm staying right where I am.
