If the medical profession can provide hormone blockers so that puberty is delayed until after the child becomes an adult at age 18, then I agree with you, just so long as any life changing surgery or gender-bending hormones are withheld until the prospective transgender individual is an adult with full capacity to give informed consent.
In the event that transgender "young people" are deemed to be capable of giving such informed consent at an earlier age (e.g. 16) by local legislation, then fair enough, let puberty be blocked until that particular age.
I have no problem with a child living life as though s/he was the opposite gender to that assigned (by common sense) at birth - as would appear to be the case in your pic. related National Geographic front cover, then so be it.

Children do not have enough life experience to make heavy decisions like that. There's a reason you have to be 18 to purchase cigarettes and 21 to imbibe alchohol.
