I've had a warrant in another state for 5 years. I've been able to get a job and even a driver's license. Are laws a joke?

Laws don't stop anyone from doing anything, user. They list the behaviors that are unacceptable and the consequences for them.
No, just slow. Depends on what you're wanted for. A constable will eventually make their way to you if you're worth the trouble.
>Are laws a joke?
The people that enforce them are. Or some of them anyway. Like the laws surrounding taxes. I may end up in prison because of these.
>Get prosecuted for not paying tax because I can't afford them
>May end up in prison where I will continue not to pay tax and be a burden on tax payers
>The law believes this to be a fitting punishment for not paying tax
This. What happens is that your bench warrant is probably sitting in a stack of papers somewhere. The new sheriff or prosecutor wants to "get tough on crime" so they contract a couple extra lawyers and go through all the warrants, it's pretty simple. When they can't find you or if they think you're a fugitive they will put out feelers to try to get you. One may eventually.
you can spend your whole life in jail even if you're innocent
You could afford to drive on the road to get to your job, right? Breathe the breathable air and drink the potable water? But you couldn't afford to pay for it at the end, huh? What would happen if you went to eat in a restaurant and you couldn't pay?
Yeahhhh I'm not buying that. It's been 5 years so nothing's going to happen
Considering we are wage slaves, that's already happening
The main contractor never paid out on time and I'm still owed 10k in back pay. But the government believes I get paid on time all the time and because of what I earn, they want my blood and refuse to lower my tax bracket.
Also fuck you, why should I have to pay tax when the smack head down the street who hasn't worked a day in his life just gets to sponge off me and the taxes I have paid. Where is the justice in that? Once I get this settled I'm moving my money to my off shore account and I'm not going to pay fuck all.
