Its just another opportunity user. Out with the old, in with the new. not trying to sound to bloomer-ish, but if the relationship failed, then it failed for significant reason.
This is a chance to be free for a while now or make a move on someone else you like. You could even be a total degenerate and sleep round trying to collect STDs. The world is your oysters.
You could move back to your home state/country. See old friends whom your partner disapproved of.

Take your time and talk about it with friends. Focus on something else, studies, work, hobbies. Work on yourself and become comfortable with being alone. After all, you yourself are the person you will always have to live with.
It might take many years to 'get over it', but you might have learned things from it, and might have learned things about yourself and how you see yourself as a person and in the future.
Eventually you'll find new opportunities and great friends which with whom you'll feel happy and comfortable. If some other relationship in the future doesn't work out, don't sweat it. Eventually you'll find that special someone, and have grown, as a person, in the meantime.
