Why do people value iq tests so highly?

Why do people value iq tests so highly?
Its almost entirely bullshit
For my job I had to take one and one, unannounced, and I scored 118. It took almost 2 hours.
Some parts were so flawed I dont think they hold any value at all, for example for my vocabulary they just asked me to define words till I missed 2 in a row. Several of these I only know because of my interest in biology and nature and if they asked me more psychological definitions I wouldve scored much lower

You need a good mood for it too and not be easily distracted or tired

Yet people think 120iq means someone is smart
Its like saying people who get a bachelors are smart. It only means theyre dedicated and have the ability to learn about their subject.

IQ tests are flawed and I don’t know why you would have to take one for a job

I scored 155 solely because I'm good at solving problems and have an autistic fucking mind.
I do call dumb people "low iq cunts" though so there's that.

Well it was required to see if i would"fit in"

It was high enough but i dont understand the emphasis on this.

If you get a rural townsfolk to take the test he will score much lower since he doesnt deal with these thongs as pften yet it does not have to mean hr is dumber

it's actually retarded cause these qualification tests are very common when you apply for training and will often ask things that you would only know if you had said training
dont know the density of aluminum? well fuck you

It's a bit like that saying: if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

We measure intelligence in a rather specific manner, if you're not good at that one thing you're basically considered dumb. If the way schools teach stuff doesn't work for you, you're dumb.

Doesn't sound like a legitimate IQ test.

High IQ = generally easier to understand complex topics vs people with lower IQ = easier to teach things on the job.

People with a lower IQ are more difficult to teach, though, and have more difficulty understanding.

>If you get a rural townsfolk to take the test he will score much lower

Not true. IQ tests are a measure of a generalized intelligence, which doesn't require learning or knowledge.

If they're asking about knowledge, like "the density of aluminum", then it's not an IQ test.

And if you're a mechanical engineer, you had better know the density and hardness of various metals.
