One of my best buddies died from it in high school.
That shit comes on fast and hits you like a hard flu. It's not until the whole neck and back pains start presenting themselves that it becomes apparent what you're dealing with.

A girl I went to uni with - exact same thing. It was like 9am she started feeling sick. Put it down to bad period mixed with flu. She got driven home.
A friend stayed with her and he said she complained of neck pain and massive headache, she couldn't tolerate any light. He called an ambulance, something told him it was real serious. They came round immediately legged it to A&E. Family were called to come see her.
She got so sick so fucking quickly there was nothing they could do to stop it. She died by 6pm.
I didn't have much to do with her but I found out she had died the following day. I was sitting there thinking I had only spoken to her 24 hrs ago, and she only looked pale.
