The Mist from 2007 is a great horror film. Definitely worth a watch. Has a lot of depth regarding how people react in times of extraordinary crisis. I would also say It (2017) was pretty good. Stephen King has great stories even if he is a massive faggot.

There are few exceptions. But the marvel stuff is tolerable. I am just happy when anything "new" hits the silver screen. Remakes piss me off and JJ Abrams should be forced to return every dollar he ever plagiarized.

You are correct. They made a lot of shit back then like they do now but an occasional gem would make its way through. My biggest complaint is that movies used to have characters that had grit. See Bad Lieutenant (1992), Red Dawn (1984), The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966). These flicks had characters (actual men) who would get their hands genuinely dirty in arduous times that required them to think on their feet and ultimately defined their character. And it was nasty but you still sympathized with the hero and cheered for him and it was gut-wrenching and satisfying at the same time. Now main characters are pussy ass faggots. Sure, Captain American kills some of da ebil Nazis, but you don't see one drop of blood and the hero is never conflicted and his character is never challenged and if there is an arc it's weak.
