>take a couple of years off to go backpacking in Canada
>find quiet, hippie town in the Rockies
>chill community, friendly people
>smoke weed down at the beach by the lake
>decide to head back to the hotel, pick up some beers on the way back
>dunno which beer to get
>see two hippie girls in the liquor store, decide to ask them
>they say "yeah grab the locally made stuff, also we're about the go to the secret beach, wanna come?"
>sure
>follow these two random chicks along the traintracks outside of town
>sharing a joint
>normally I wouldn't do something as sketchy as follow 2 strangers along traintracks into the woods but fuck it, i'll go with the flow
>a mile along the tracks we get to a path into the forest
>after 5min it comes out at a secluded, secret nude beach
>only locals and the odd hippie traveler know about it
>everyone's under 30 except for one or two old guys down the end
>3 of us start drinking and smoking with a group of randoms
>laughing having a good time, 50/50 ratio of guys and gals
>one bf/gf couple disappear into the bushes for 10min
>come back with messy hair, red in the face, guy with a boner, girl with juice running down her legs
>we party until 10pm and it starts getting dark
>we head back into town and get burritos
only planned on passing through but ended up living in that town for a few months, was good times.

>his friend with a guitar starts singing a song about the drunk guy, the song's about how he's addicted to crack
>guy gets depressed
>keeps asking us every 5min if we have a phone
>we keep saying no
>he keeps asking us if we can call a taxi for him
>shit keeps going on for hours
>at one stage a group of 3 girls show up
>they see the chaos being caused by the homeless guys and quickly leave
>friends say "yeah, cool beach asshole"
>they never come back again
There's good days and bad days. For every day that there's a lot of chill, young people and lots of girls on a nude beach there's 2 days of either homeless people, old people or just a sausagefest.
The best days are weekends though. Just avoid the couple of days after welfare checks come through.

luckily I know a Belgian girl who basically gets paid to go to hippie-ish festivals all over the world, the big ones and the small unknown ones. She knows nearly all of them it seems.

Plenty of nude beaches in California. Summer time at Black's Beach can be awesome: Just down the hill from UCSD. Thousands of hot young college boys and girls on a good day, and the biggest surf in San Diego. There's even a gay section for the sausage lovers.

I absolutely love festivals. Of course there are crowds at them who just wanna get fugd up and listen to music, but almost every festival has a distinct crowd of people looking to grow closer to nature.
