Oh out by Pennfield, hmm. Wish it was raining/snowing here.

Anyone else that would rather pay the price for a normal house, but instead have a smallish house with giant acerage? I don't need 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, I need 2 total rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen, and I desperately need no other people anywhere near that spot.
I wonder if there is a word for when you realize that regular human interaction is annoying as fuck and being physically/mentally comfy is all that matters.
You drive up with your friends to the same viewpoint you've all been going to ever since you got the car, an old beaten-up Ford F-250 in your first year of highschool; the damn thing took you a year of working at the diner downtown to scrounge up the money for it, but goddamn was it worth it.
As you crest the hill, the same familiar sight greets you: a brilliant gradient of reds, oranges and purples, the shimmering of the lights in the valley below, the dress of shadow enveloping the woods around the lake. The car rumbles to a stop and you all climb out, your best friend holding the 6-pack your older sister agreed to acquire for you in exchange for doing the chores for a week; you hate taking cleaning out the henhouse but you'd promised the guys a week back that you'd get the beer.
You and your friends lean against the railing, the air silent save for the snap and hiss of the cheap Blue Ribbon beers opening and the rustle of the treetops as the wind jostles them, ushering in the veil of stars that soon sparkle high above, so far out of reach, yet somehow closer than the glinting lights dotting the landscape below the horizon.
You just wrapped up a game of 5e D&D with your wife, son, sister and niece, who you've been running the campaign with for a year now, every 3 weekends like clockwork and they've just hit level 5 tonight. Wife and son are busy for an hour after updating their characters and relationship tracks with their companions. Window is open and it's raining softly with a nice breeze blowing through as I catch up on some BTG Arena. A few hours later, wife is in bed, son is in his room playing some online game and I'm shitposting on Yea Forums comfy threads as I drink a Blue Moon and listen to Ancient Aliens on Hulu in the background.
That's the bed a couple made so their five cats and two dogs could sleep with them at night. I think it's a combination of two beds and is about 11 feet long.
So glad I don't live there anymore, kind of miss my buds though. I think my old man still lives in the same fucking house funnily enough, dunno how he didn't end up offing himself trying to raise me and my sis alone working double shifts at the factory.
He's kind of weird. Last we saw him was when we both visited him a few years ago at the old place, but he got rid of his phone since then, doesn't really have a functioning computer, and I don't think he's ever returned a letter in his life. He made it pretty clear he mostly just wants to live out his retirement in solitude and my sis and I decided to respect that. He's just kind of a weird guy an I'm not sure if the way he raised us was because he is just so detached or he loves us so much that he doesn't want us to go out of our way to visit him. He is just a really weird guy but I love him.
Love you pops, I'll never forget the Christmas you sold your watch to get my sis and I presents.

That is really sad, he did everything for you guys and now you don't even have a contact, but it's clearly his choice, yeah he really sounds weird.
Looking back on it, the best way to describe it was like living with a housemate where you are the deadbeat housemate and he paid all the bills and hung out with you on the weekends but literally never told you anything about his life or anything like that. You knew the guy's name, his opinion on politics and stuff, stuff about how his day went, but at most you'd only get anecdotes and occasional stories about his past. I don't think I even know what his real birthday is because when my sister asked he apparently just shrugged and came up with a day off the top of his head.
Something about Asian citiescapes at night that does it for me. Sitting in the near dark, chill music, good drink, some quiet company, watching the city lights below.
Funny. I've actually done that. On ground level is great, but also from a bar at the hotel I was staying at. Damn can't even remember the name, it was across the road from Raffles, overlooking the Padang.
Is that the one with the brushed steel open balcony that used to be polished and reflective before some buzzkill realized its an upskirt paradise? Or am I misremembering?
Dylan Sullivan
Just checked it was the Stamford. Great balconies outside the room. Thinking back, would've been great upskirt material lol
