Paragon
>What made it special
It was a game that brought me and my friends together, we spent so many unforgettable hours on that game, and it broke my heart when the servers shut down. Now it's Paragone... rip

Chrono was for me too. The grind, open world and open time and multiple endings. Young me was in complete awe

> What made it special
What makes the story so excellent is just how it is done. The game has a more epic feel than ever before, since you literally get to see the chaos of what Ganondorf has done. And the cut-scenes are beautifully executed. From the excellent nightmare of Ganondorf riding after Zelda to the creepiness of seeing the first boss in the shadows, the cut-scenes are great. The special effects in the background really do add a lot to them, and the camera really makes the scenes feel so much more dramatic. its incredible atmosphere. The castle village has folk music in the background with tons of people clapping and dancing. Death Mountain is filled with the goron creatures, and you can go inside and see their interesting culture and celebrations. There is the Zora waterfall, and you get to see the society of Zoras (before they all turn evil and decide to attack Link in future games, that is). Every area of the world has its own little theme, and yet they manage to all stay connected.
For a game from 1998 or me as someone who grew up in the 2000s this was unparalleled, it's hard to state just how mindblowing this game is, it's the closest any has ever come to being flawless

The Guardian Legend for the NES. Everything about it is awesome.

This may sound weird but back when it first came out, Half-Life 2 felt like Real life. It was the most realistic looking game anyone had ever seen & the voice acting was so well done that you genuinely felt like you were interacting with real people. Episode 2 was the combination of all of the best aspects of HL1 & HL2 into one game. It just sucks that the ending was shit

This, not even a boomer but i played this for the first time in 2017 & this blew me away with how good it was.

- Solid gameplay and innovative job system requiring creative strategy
- Challenging battles, some take an hour or more. I had a blast taking turns on these with siblings.
- Deep plot & rich story line, english translation could have been better but it's readable
- Great visuals, and E P I C soundtrack:

If you haven't tried this, it's easily one of the TOP 5 MUST TRY titles for the original PS.

it represents the futility of materialism

So if i enjoyed Fire Emblem Awakening, will i love this game as well?

Yes

that game was so fun, it didn't deserve to die

My favourite game is probably Beyond Good & Evil. that game is comfy as fuck.

Only game i've ever played that perfectly captured the feeling of going on a grand scale adventure with friends, growing up this was the equivelent of a long running anime series

yes I think you would.

>Favorite game
Definitely God of War 2018
>What made it special
I already really liked the original trilogy and the 3 side games, so when this game blew the lore wide open, while also expanding the gameplay, without completely redoing it I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a shrek 2 level sequel. The story is incredible too.

GoW 2 was easily the best. GoW 2018 is boring as fuck. dark souls light with 1 weapon and boring special attacks. Atreyus is obnoxious and the boss battles are really boring and low-scale compared to the GoW that came before.

Still waiting on that sequel

Breath of the Wild, the sense of freedom & exploration was incredible & perfectly combines the feeling of the original Zelda & OOT

Earthbound
rpg, style, colors, ending, middle part

For me it was Jagged Alliance (and JA2 even more). Soldier of fortune 2 (not my first online fps but the one that really got me into them) and afterwards and/or around the same time counterstrike.

For consolefag games I also enjoyed Chrono Trigger, and some sega master system shit.

I'm an oldfag of course, if that matters

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Every time I start it up and hit that fakie it cures my autism for just a short second

>Ogre Battle 64
Story was pretty awesome, game was stupid hard. But fuck it was deep. You could make decisions to kill everyone, save everyone, and anything in between.

Fable 2 cuz fuck you

Probably completely outta left field but for me it's Baten Kaitos. I love the art style and the story but the main thing that made it so special was I would watch my friend play it when I was at his house and eventually he got stuck on a boss, I tried but couldn't beat it and then I went with him and his family to GameStop. He was going to sell it but something told me to try to get it so I asked his dad if I could have it, him give the money it was worth to my friend and I'd pay him back. I got stuck on the same boss, had to start a new game, my save ended up getting deleted/corrupted several times, would get stuck on later bosses. Long story short it took playing it on and off for like 5 years to finally finish it. I fucking love that game.

Bump

I played Night in the Woods shortly after dropping out of college at the age of 19 for financial reasons (turned 20 when the Weird Autumn update dropped, which really fucking hit home honestly because the main character is 20), and I had grown up reading and loving Lovecraft and Lovecraft-inspired media. I wasn't from the Rust Belt which would have really sealed the deal, but I am from a heavily wooded, very conservative town in the south that people seem to only want to get away from, so that helped with the immersion. Basically, it hit me in all the right places at the exact right time in my life
