Why the marines versus any other branch?

Trust me you are not going to be doing any of that stuff unless you go special forces or something. Peacetime military blows.

The BDR is a load of bullshit. All of the Marines I know hate it. Not one has said anything good. My command is currently following it as written. We have missed being able to eat lunch multiple time because our morning tasks fall into the time alloted to eat.
I believe it does more harm than good.

There are pro’s and con’s to every branch. I’m proud to be a marine but I don’t delude myself anymore with our abilities (some people act like mariens are basically superhuman, and they arnt) A lot of it just propaganda. I’m more physically fit than the average human but not near a college level athlete.
What the Marines have over every other branch is being superior to company level and below assults, this is where it thrives. The Marines are a more strict and tougher conventional force over the others, and thats pretty much it.

Shittier conditions can build solidarity, but it also make Marines fight each other a lot more, which ironically also builds solidarity.
There is a weird more primal and ancient social hierarchy with groups comprised of abled bodied men with a goal at hand. I can’t describe it exactly myself.

Those are common rumors. The USMC gets some better gear than the army. Usually slightly shittier living conditions, and invests most of it’s money into training. I haven’t worked much with the airforce so I can’t attest to them.
The USMC gets better flaks and camo, and our rifles are all good to go, so that’s all that really matters.

Army is extending infantry training from 15 weeks to 22. Even basic is going from 9 weeks (was 8 like two years ago) to 12 in the future.

Yea I was reading something the other day that the new enlistees have a "buddy mentality" with the NCOs and question lawful orders a lot. And to combat that the army is doing more drilling ceremonies? I don't understand how that helps but w.e

My OSUT training for Army Infantry was 16 weeks. Basic got changed to 9 weeks a bit after I finished. This was in 2000.

Yea they are extending it, just google army OSUT.
Going for 22 weeks because they realize my generation is lazy and stupid as fuck, and enemy nations armies are improving in skill.
