Why is today's generation getting so fucking offended all the time now?

Before social media you used to only compare yourselves to your local peers so it wasn't too hard to stand out. Now that the younger generation can compare themselves to the rest of the world they feel insignificant.
One way to bring attention to yourself and feel relevant is by being offended or upset on other peoples behalf.

I was just thinking about this the other day, why didn't that german? frenchie? suicide pilot didn't just crashed there.

It’s because parents started treating their children as if they are precious little angels to be protected at all costs. They hid them from adversity, from different opinions, from scary people, from the outdoors and germs and sports that have losing teams.

These are kids that believe they are always a winner and they are never wrong. They think that anyone challenging them is a demon sent by the devil himself. Think about what your parents did to you. They let you play outside, get hurt, fight with other kids, play in creeks and the mud. They called you out for being a shit and when the other team won they told you it was because they were better.

That made you mentally accustomed to adversity. That’s what you need to be well rounded and adaptable in life. Nowadays, I’ll give a kid a worksheet and they’ll start crying. They’re soft and weak and have no idea what it’s like to persevere until you succeed.

I am deeply deeply concerned about the next 20 years.

>I am deeply deeply concerned about the next 20 years.'

I wish I knew. Nobody can take a joke or an insult anymore. I thought about walking around with duct tape on my mouth so I wouldn't be able to offend anyone but I'm sure that would offend someone. I grew up with a smart mouth and had a comeback for any asshole that wanted to fuck with me. I wish there was a cure for the pussification of the country.

>getting offended at people getting offended.

Taking offense is a way of signaling perceived virtue and gathering social capital. This overlaps some with the fact that it also signals membership of the political religion.

I mean, read more. There are really smart people thinking about these things. Jonathan Haidt has done really great work here.
