If you didn't have an internet connection, it was ok. Soon as you had your own internet connection, became 10X better. The best part about the 2000s was the ubiquitous access and speed. Search engines sucked until about 2003-2004. I remember when I was about 8 years old, wishing I had a pocket PC/ smartphone. The closest I had at the time was a laptop but no wireless internet access. Ricochet existed at the time but only in San Francisco and I lived in the burbs. Cellular radio was only 9.6kps and was expensive per minute.

Life started to suck after the tech implosion. I saw it coming and cashed out my stocks and rolled my 401k into precious metals in late 99. Then headed back to the oil patch for one more year, buying PM's with everything me and my wife saved that year. Bought a ranch here in central Texas. The 90's were bretty good! It was a comfy and optimistic time. People in the 90's thought that the future was going to be bright and things would only get better. We had plenty of good entertainment. Political correctness was a thing but it was no where near as bad as it was today.

On the contrary, i love my life, i went through the druggie stage, i had a lot of great times and great friends, some of which died from drugs, i lived fucking large expecting to die at any time so i did everything i could, i did disneyland on acid, i shared a bed with a different girl every night, i was in a pretty successful band which allowed me to have a fucking blast, and i came through it all and survived and made something of my life, so much so that i retired at 45 and have fond memories of the time, but i know, as should anyone who was cognisant of the times, that they were terrible grey hard years at the time, and those who got through it with lives and fond memories are the lucky ones.
