there's a clear progression of "ways a child molester refers to themselves" from most direct/offensive to most roundabout/innocuous/funny

going from pedophile to lolicon is just a weird sidestep since theyre basically the same, except one is the weirdo weeb version no one's ever heard of. minor attracted person is not only the next logical step on the way to the punchline, but also topical. idk if you've been on twitter recently but go checkout #map and #nomap

Obviously it's the same. It's about what word to use for a group of people, and "lolicon" supposedly being the more intelligent way to name a pedophile.

i am painfully uninterested in the distinction between ロリコン　and ペド because we're not in japan, we're not using those words in the way the japanese do. a lolicon is -basically- a pedophile for the purposes of this joke, which is to say, to a general audience. the only one who'd bother to make a distinction like that are lolicons and theyre clearly not the target audience seeing as the joke takes a shot right at them. i even said to take it out, but i think the joke will work just as well if it stays in and map is added.

pedophile necessitates a -sexual- attraction, lolicon does not, both in japan and abroad.

not in common usage, the average person seeing this joke will not make that distinction which is my point.
