Any college level athlete on Yea Forums?
Some guy on my college rowing team posted this, apparently its some trial for the team or whatever, is this level of training normal in college sports? I mean I always knew it was hard but this guy almost dropped dead.

Crew is cut throat, even in HS we had people passing out on ergs. It was understood that if you didn't puke at the end of your recorded 2K, that you didn't actually try. I'm not doing crew college, but have friends who are, and it's more intense.

thats just flopping. rowing isnt a real sport. neither is soccer

thats crazy did you ever pass out?

Something about erging fucks you up hard. At a lot of events there is an ambulance or two which are always used. It is pretty common to puke after a hard piece.

Rowing is just playing in faggoty little boats with a bunch of lycra clad med. Gay as fuck.

Looks like a fit dude. Probably doing either a 2K or a 6K, know what his time was?

548

I saw nothing but black at for the last 250 m of my PR piece, but didn't actually didn't actually pass out. I've puked in the middle of a piece and kept on erging a bunch of times.

so were you guys the chads during hs? I mean this seems a lot more brutal than most other HS sports

Damn, that's pretty good

It's because it's full body, and then I think there's something about the proper posture that constricts your air ways unlike other cardio exercises

The competition is really high, because you're literally fighting people for seats on the boat. There are only 8 seats for rowing, and there's an important weight to power ratio that in order to be competitive you need to give every little power you can, because on the water it creates significant change.

We had a coaching staff change my Junior year because of how harsh our head coach was, and the parents were upset, and the board finally listened when we didn't preform well. But from my understanding, it's not that uncommon. On the women's side, it's much different, they aren't as intense, or they're mega dykes trying to out do the guys team

FYI the best competitors dope with short lived substances like stenabolic. You need every edge.

is this a joke or something? Youre literally just doing rows theres grannies in the gym doing this for like an hour straight everyday where I live how could this be harder than doing like 50 pull ups

What a pussy.

This pic is not from my HS boat house, but we had one just like this. We'd always do our pieces outside so that we wouldn't have to clean up our puke.

We had regional erging competitions, and they had a puke bucket next to every erg because they had issues in the past.

>Any college level athlete
par for the course in any NCAA DIV I sport

so is the corruption, academic 'substitution', and shady handouts and gifts for 'amateur' student athletes

did you have lots of qts watching you train?

Grannies don't do row at race piece intensities, when prepping for a piece, we do that a warm up, and even then we're probably going at a higher intensity than they will

elaborate?

Not really, only dudes, fat chicks, and dykes. Every once in awhile you'll have a pretty cute coxswain but she's never interested in any of the rowers, and might as well be a drill instructor yelling in your face.

Usual for kids to work that hard. Look into amateur motocross. Families sell their houses and home school their kids from age 10 or less and have them live at private training facilities trying to become one in a million. It’s ridiculous and jaw dropping how many families think their kid is the next Ricky Carmichael or James Stewart Jr. Kids are given professional contracts before they can drive. Everyone trains to go 200bpm for 30 minutes before their balls drop. I’m able to breathe through my nose while having a 190bpm heart rate during practice sessions currently but I graduated as work full time and am realistic. I just wanna go fast

rowing basically works your entire body, and theyre doing it hrs at a time

reminds me of when you hit X and play with the dead bodies in skyrim

Sister was a coxwain for a D1 rowing college. She had problems where she would girls burst into tears from how much she was yelling at them, but it was 100% necessary because they got PRs on all of those pieces

>focuses and courses that somehow only athletes can register for
>on-call 'tutors'
>un-proctored exams
Found out my freshman year that the core required courses like algebra had a special section for sports (ostensibly to deal with travel/practice schedules) that were engineered to provide as little oversight as possible, so that 'tutors' could to the work for them.

the handouts and gifts are endemic, usually arranged through things like alumni associations or local businesses. Occasionally there's a dumb fuck that gets caught (Ohio State a few years ago had a big NCAA sanction) there's been tons of basketball and football players where they get an 'internship' at a local car dealer and get a car to drive, etc.

Most of the time we had people who were track stars who ended up building up muscle, or huge ass football dudes who can pull so much weight.

Football dudes would always go real hard, but had shit endurance

do you still race?

College sports are insane. Wrestling and crew are their own breed though. Crew people people get hella intense and cut weight to make the boat go even faster. Wrestlers do the same thing, but cut to get in a lower weight class.

Crew's less of a sport than it is a cult

bump

im a rower and we go hard. Then we slap eachother on the ass and head to the showers. Usually i start it, and i stick a finger up the other guys asses. They love it, and then we make a train. We take turns being th front cart. I love being a college rower.

the amount of effort vs the amount of reward in most college sports is insane. Like for track and field and most team sports not basketball or football, people don even show up to the games besides maybe some family, looks like some kids soccer match crowd. yet they are training at near a pro lvl of time.
this is right for some colleges, if the college is sports cucked enough they even do things like during tests hand them scantorns already filled out. although I think it is less wide spread then people think, not worth the risk for most sports, and the sports on tv, like college football are closely watched. but it does happen, more in some decades then others. and the one on one tutor thing and sepcial dumbed down classes are real. I dont trust any high lvl colelge athletic degree
he was not close to dying, just got lightheaded and intense pain for a few minutes.
>rowing isnt a real sport
agreed, it is just high lvl training. Something doesnt become a sport till there is some fight/test between players. anything where one team can go and the other team can go and you just compare times is not a sport. still awesome activity though .

college is for fags and cult-fags
of course the sports teams are full of the types that admires eachother's physiques and other gay shit

huffpost.com/entry/male-victims-sexual-assault_n_6535730

what happened?

>omething doesnt become a sport till there is some fight/test between players.
youtube.com/watch?v=0YaU6qZvWhI

In a college wrestling program. It's tough, but I've gotten used to it over the years.

what weight?

yeah not a sport. that is just training with other dudes nearby. if you put that in a calm lake you could have them go one by one and just compare times. they are not actually interacting with each other

So swimming and track aren't sports? what kind of weird parameter is that

Did he have a small heart attack or something?

As a rower, there is a psychological drive that makes you go faster or slower when next to other people. My coxswain did this thing once where they got the names of each person on the other boat, and they would say something like "We're passed Dave," and you could see Dave start to lose momentum. So you actually can effect how people do against you

Nah, got light headed and trouble breathing from pushing himself. Happens all the time

swimming is just an activity or training. Track is barely a sport because you dont have private lanes after the start so you can block people off, asuuming it is not a straght lane dash. water polo is a sport

im gonna start posting this in rekt threads. people will probably be very confused.

fair enough, you play any sport?

What college?

sports.

Counter-Strike is a sport

soooo, dodgeball is a sport, but weightlifiting isnt?

actully yes but no one in the sport will admit what it actually is, but yes its a heart attack, a small one

yes.

*>e-sport
fixed that for you.
is chess a sport?

Yes, B class. Collegeboy and 450 B

nope. I am practically autistic which you can tell from my activities. I cycle and I lift
>oh I petal really long
>oh I lift really hard
pretty much as autistic as you can get.

I'm like 100% sure rowing crew is just an excuse to give people scholarships.

The fuck is the ultimate goal otherwise go pro ?

what is the point of any scholarships then?

Rowing is a sport in high esteem among the administration. Winning races against other colleges is of some pride and importance.

Keep telling yourself that.

blacked out doing a ten k and the coaches made me redo it that afternoon

whats the F****** point?

We all do realise that a boat can go faster?

People are F****** retarded.

>coxswain
this guy is legit... every word according to google matches.. are we are getting hoodwinked by a super larper.
