If you knew all the rules, you could fill out the table and see what a theoretical 157's properties would be for a fun puzzle. There's a theoretical "island of stability" that should allow for superheavy elements, but I forget what number that would be around

It's kinda hard to explain, but imagine you keep taking multiples of a number + 1, you will always find a prime eventually
The only number which will give you 157 as the first prime in this process is 156, obviously, even though 39*4+1 = 157, 39*2+1 = 79 and 79 is also prime
the next number with this property is 421, and their is never really a logarithmic gap of this size in this sequence it seems
This would be easier for me to explain if I could use mathematical notation

the boring answer is that its the same reason many high schoolers learn the periodic table despite not needing to: any sufficiently large system has to start accounting for outliers where possible as long as it isn't too detrimental and one of the effects of that with education is that many people learn things in school they will never use again. a GED test, as far as i'm aware, is just to check for that same knowledge.

Apparently, there was a tornado to the south of me. I don't think my area was in the 'warning zone' but I was concerned regardless. I spent maybe a good 20 min securing loose objects around the house and making sure the doors were locked -- I couldn't figure out how to window locks worked, though.
