I mean, English, German and Spanish are pretty related to each other, so I wouldn't imagine someone becoming a linguist over it, but it's still more than the vast majority of anglophones will ever achieve.

Spanish is only related to english and german in the sense that theyre all indoeuropean languages, but theyre really different since german and english belong to the germanic tree while spanish comes from the romanic one

The german language has been influenced by latin for almost 1000 years tho. German syntax is closer to latin than the spanish one while spanish kept most of its vocabulary
