Amazing job to Katie Baumen and I'm in no way trying to discredit her but fakenews feminists are pushing the narrative that she's solely responsible for this amazing feat and using it as an opportunity to badmouth men who say anything against the twisted narrative.
it's not cool that people tried to diminish her role in the black hole image, but it's also not cool for people to pretend like she was SOLELY responsible.
its like people refuse to be happy about accomplishments without distorting the narrative behind it...
Caleb Flores
Anybody got her nudes?

no one said she is solely responsible, that would be silly
that is just the way you read it, wonder why
Jeremiah Sanchez
I'd love it if more accurate/credited information was being published. WITHOUT discrediting Katie. I don't like the whole, let's get back at Katie because no one else is getting credit thing. But its wrong that they're spreading misinformation about who is responsible for the work especially when she states herself that she doesn't want that.
Maybe I should have been a little more clear. Not this image in particular. But its the one that popped up on my fb feed that reminded me of this topic. Hence no >pic related. Its more the reception that the image has generated. Its like the first wave of highly condensed information on the subject bounced off the surface and certain people, who I guess I should be ignoring anyway, are either twisting the story or straight up lying about the contributions she has made to both discredit the other people on the project and bash anyone, with a mostly man hating message, to anyone that doesn't completely praise the altered message they're pushing.
Also read this. I think she's an amazing person and should go down in history.
>Why does this bother me? Because these people are becoming rather obnoxious in their attempts to engineer perception. In addition to annoying you, it should also make you question just how accurate history books are, on the assumption that historical sources are no more truthful.
Because the media is dumb, and consumers of the media are even dumber. That's why the media loves to have a figurehead, because it makes the story simpler. And it's even better if the figurehead is a minority, because then it's controversial, and that makes more people pay attention.

It’s two different arguments.
Women are arguing that what they wear doesn’t mean the consent to being groped or seen as objects of sex.
I agree it was an out of proportion response to his shirt, but you can’t always argue the “I can wear what I want because women say that stuff too”. If a doctor came in to tell you that you had cancer and was wearing a shirt that said “it’s 5 o clock somewhere!” and a nazi general hat, you would probably tell him it’s totally not appropriate for the situation and ask for an apology.

>It’s two different arguments Because one is a man
Because they picked one the few women involved to take pictures of to fuel a stupid political meme in which women are blah blah blah and we all know it. Media is hyper-shit at handling science though, the term "Higgs boson" isn't even okay with Higgs and he wants people to use some term that recognize the other like 10+ people he views as integral to the discovery. Nobody, including me, even remembers this weird acronym he has made out of all those names. The media knows that the people, unable to really process the teamwork of science in a capitalistic way, just choose a champion. So they made sure it was a girl because politics.
I pointed out she's married pre-30 and has a diamond the size of a small moon on her finger so it's definitely not a nigger and it took all the wind out of the shitpost sails of everyone I saw trying with this. She's going to have a white kid with some other whitey on the science team. Everyone knows niggers and spics are retarded cowards, Jews are smart but they're as inbred as your average post-Disney dalmatian so they have no future except becoming not-Jews-anymore.
yes but they're usually chosen by seniority and past recognition, they just picked a girl to take a picture of and we all know it
also this already happened in the 60's, just like everything else SJWs think they've accomplished
Because you are not happy with where your life is and take comfort in lowering others rather than admitting that your life is heading nowhere. Just spitballing
Nobody is saying she's literally the sole person responsible. Same as how nobody remembers the dude who worked with Samuel Morse and created Morse Code, or the hundreds of people who worked tirelessly on each and every shuttle launch. They're just trying to point out that there totally are chicks on board in an effort to encourage more to take the leap. Just relax, it's really not an attack on anyone.

Liam Morales
They may not be literally saying it but that's what they want the general population to believe. The feminist agenda blames the lack of women in the STEM fields on social expectations and has used their leverage over the liberal media to imply that a woman has achieved something that has never before accomplished. They are purposely omitting the fact that she led the TEAM to this accomplishment because that would raise the questions of the individuals in the team

From Chaels Twitter: [...] Our papers used three independent imaging software libraries (including one developed by my friend @sparse_k). While I wrote much of the code for one of these pipelines, Katie was a huge contributor to the software; it would have never worked without her contributions andthe work of many others who wrote code, debugged, and figured out how to use the code on challenging EHT data. With a few others, Katie also developed the imaging framework that rigorously tested all three codes and shaped the entire paper (link: iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/2041-8213/ab0e85) [...]

If there are multiple numbers >1234 >4321 That means I’m responding to multiple (that means more than one) posts at a time.
When you respond to a post where I have responded to multiple (that means more than one) posts, it would behoove (that means something you should do) you to be specific what post was yours or, at the very least tell me what was said that I’m responded to.
Jeremiah Collins
Yes, why are you bothered by some internet trolls spreading a false message. There are so many false messages on the internet, yet you are bothered by this. In particular the opposite false message, that she hardly did anything, is not a message you are as bothered by. Why is that?
It's probably because you have sunk into the anti feminist sinkhole. What you need to realize is that the more you click the more of those stories you get, warping your view of how common or important they are. Just stop clicking and they'll go away.

1) Andrew Chael went full seat sniffing soy on twitter and gave her all the credit. I'm not saying he should have sperged, but not saying anything would have been his best course of action.
2) Things like this are done to get more women into ~the science~. Why do you think you see more women doing ~the science~ in comics, movies, vidya, etc? Probably hadn't even noticed the slow creep, had you? It's a scientific fact women are more gullible to mob mentality. So the more women in ~the science~, the easier it will be to push made up agendas like man made climate change.

Dude.. Just read the tweets of the guy who co-wrote the thing. Maybe he is a more accurate source than a meme
It bothers me because she's a kike and I don't trust kikes one tiny little bit. That image could have been made in MS-paint a lot more easily than actually looking for something that's supposed to eat light in the pitch darkness of space. On top of that, kikes tried to land on the moon around the same week. Imagine if they could have claimed two amazing feats from their unfathomable intellect, in just one week? Smells like jet fuel and steel beams.
I get your point. But this stuff is everywhere and its leaking into normal everyday life. Regular people are sharing this stuff and with a little digging behind the headline its obvious that a story has been twisted but people don't care to read. They even build serious political standpoints and develop mobthink/mentality in relation based on memes, images and new headlines shared on Facebook/twitter that originates from the people you're telling me to ignore.
>Tfw sexists tried, justified by a lie about how much code he wrote, to latch onto some random white boy from the team as the "real" sole discoverer who has been surpressed by the evil bitch and feminist conspiracy and serves as proof of white male oppression and stolen credit in general >Guy turns out to be gay, fully supports his colleague and sees right through the underhanded disingenuous tactics of those trying to elevate him, not for his own sake but to shit on his coworker Lol Seriously though, one researcher out of many becoming the "face" and getting credit in the eyes of laymen is always stupid and oversimplified but it happens all the time and people only get SO massively TRIGGERED like this when the chosen idol happens to be a woman/brown/something else that doesn't fit with the feels/agenda/narrative of oversensitive insecure trolls.
Logan Bell
>Well they may now be LITTERALLY doing all the shit I'm accusing them of but I still FEEL they're launching a psychic war brainwash us! Lol litterally nothing new. Some team leader or random always gets picked as face and all the nuance gets left out from catchy headlines and 500 word summaries for normies. Christopher Hill
>You can't trust what people say they think, only what -I- say they think and I just KNOW in muh FEELS that they all secretly agree with me Oh kid... Someday you'll look back on this and cringe if you don't just lie to yourself and try to forget it.

strawman, nobody is saying she deserves 100% credit for the photograph. Give this sad little psyops program a rest, the guy you tried to lionize already deflected the credit for it.
Oh of course Le reverse sexism! Because they toooootally don't pull this same shit whenever some young rich white guy "accidentally" rapes or chimps out in some other way and they go on about how we shouldn't ruin this poor innocent child's future and reputation with a frowny face on his permanent record because it's such an unfair burden to admit and face consequences for your actions and he's basically the real victim.
Colton Sanders
>It bothers me because she's _insert group here_ which upsets muh sensetive feels Well at least you can admit it. Seriously that makes me respect you more than 90% of this thread.

So this website(Yea Forums) is all about racism and anti-feminism. All we do here is fapping to hot whores, we treat them as an objects, sexual objects. The question is - what the fuck are you doing here, liberal retard?
Robert Garcia
yeah, actually they finally started pushing the guy who did 90% of the code (I mean, after they found out he was gay and it pushed their narrative further)
Matthew Hernandez
only reason they started mentioning him was because he is LGBTQIA+ or something. Went from like spot light on 1 of the 12 people because girl, to 2 of the 12 because girl and a gay... (Also, pretty sure we've had pics before, maybe not this res, but whatever)
Ethan Bennett
triple dubs of truth :/
Jackson Wilson
ugh, that smug face she is giving, I sure hope he did.
uh huh, sure. so who out of those 12 is the real hero programmer? Have you guys picked your latest?

Look at all them upvotes she got.
Also, the same people pointed him out (because he is gay and deserves credit) did you see how huge the team was?
Weird how everyone points to the white girl and gay guy and not the other 50....
Nice triple dubs but damn that pic I need to go to a dentist now from all this cringing Fucking feminism
Samuel Bailey
Not him but he does have a point: conformity to the mass of sheeps or risk being the target of unwanted slandering You do it at some point and don’t even lie about it
Mason Miller
except i haven't tried "lionize" anyone in ANY of my comments. I haven't tried mentioned the other guy who people are saying wrote 800k lines of code once.
>half of the humans are women So he counted every “almost 8 billions” to deduce there is an even equality among both sexes
Henry Cook
Because everyone knows she can't be the sole one responsible. Just stay quiet now, and don't stop correcting people over time: it was a team. Everyone already knows some fresh college student didn't single handedly pull it off. Just watch her downfall when she can't deliver more than once. Scientists are expected to only improve.
Aaron Rodriguez
who gives a fuck about the upvotes you goddamn zoomer? And the gay guy was the one YOU trolls fingered as the real hero programmer, he had to come out and set the record straight.
Furthermore, the two of them literally pointed to the other 50 and you guys just can't deal with it.
Tyler Baker
She did not set the record straight, took ownership as sole one responsible and said some shit about it not being possible without her team. Ya....that's a hoop people jump through when they get recognition. It's polite, but not pointing to 50 people and acting like they are as important. Anyone with friends knows the difference. Are you a sperg?
Liam Wood
yeah because that little line of attack failed miserably so you're resorting to direct character assassination because she's accomplished more at her young age than you ever will.
Jace Morgan
she literally pointed them out. what the fuck do you want from her? A full list of all contributors ranked by % contribution?
Evan Clark
She didn't lead the team though. Most of her contribution was user interface.
Lucas Garcia
Where have I tried to attack her personally? I think you're getting me (op) mixed up with other people
Jacob Howard
I did not really get into this whole thing, but if she is the responsible person for this whole project its rather normal only she gets the credit. Usually, the professor responsible for the research gets the main credit even if a phd student did most of the actual work, because the professor enables all the necessary resources. Did not look her actual profession and the publication (is there even one yet?) up.
Adrian Garcia
She could've corrected the journalist in her interviews, but she gave an oscar speech. That's not real appreciation. The point of those articles has nothing to do with improving perception of women, and everything to do with trying to put men down in STEM fields. Gender shouldn't be a requirement, you don't "need" more women anywhere more than you "need" more men in STEM. The only thing that changed with more women in STEM is a more politically hostile environment, i.e. I ended up leaving a project, because a woman kept loading everything in a centrifuge to one side. That shit went flying one day. I didn't waste my time and money in education to lose my head so we could have tits in the lab. It's really going to suck when that womb and stem cell tech becomes affordable. Women will be a commodity, because you lose all your value. Sexists? Yes, almost like having your value diminished, because you weren't born a woman.
Juan King
The outrage is that she decided to use her influence to embed herself in a gross political movement within STEM. Do you trust a politically motivated scientist?
Colton Edwards
She isn't the head of the project or the main face of the project. Her photo, however did go viral on the day of the picture release and it is being shared with titles such as "this is the girl responsible for the picture of the black hole" ecs. Which has been snatched up and shared about by people trying to claim a victor for women. Fortunately/unfortunaly however you see it, people arent reading past the headlines and she has become the face of the project. People spreading misinformation or just flat out lying to keep her in that position. Don't get me wrong she's a phenominal scientist/programmer and to write the algorythm that she did, its world class work. But there were plenty of other people huddled in the room with her, who all pressed go at the same time. So that nobody would get more credit than anyone else. There have been a team of 200 people and people working/pitching the project for 10+ years. It just seems wrong that people are twisting the story when she has said what she has said and then using that as a weapon to beat other people with as a one up tool. If that makes sense. I don't want her to be defamed or have her reputation damaged in any way, I just annoys me that the truth isn't being told and the twisted story is being used in a bad way.
Brandon Myers
Clearly the man standing with his face directly in the projector image in the head bitch in charge.
David Wright
Eh, I lost respect for her. I've been in bands, studied biochem, and work with a small team now. I can't imagine taking credit like that. Letting it happen is still taking credit.
Her name is not Katie it's Einstein she made that black hole so that her fellows could take a picture of it.
Adrian Anderson
It bothers you because you're an asshole. She's way more intelligent than you, and she's cute. That's intimidating and frustrating to assholes like yourself.
Daniel Jenkins
She's said a few times that she wasn't the only one working on the project and corrected people when they ask. But if I was asked to talk about the ground breaking research I'd just been working on if someone congratulated me I'd say thanks. After all. She was a part of the project so Id hate to take that away from her. As you can see here
Cooper Diaz
Corrected? I know you are full of shit, and lying. Go look at the interviews. Not one fucking correction. Imagine being at a job interview: "Oh, you helped Katie with her project."
Xavier Reyes
Found the virgin.
Ryder Bailey
1. 80% of the code for the project was written by a blonde haired white boy, who has already been irentified. 2. the other 20% was not written by her, she only opened a hex container to change the font of the program. that's what she technically did, she never coded anything 3. the photo itself is from her Ted talk 2 years ago, it's the same photo turned on it's side.
therefore shes been stealing credit from this kid for over 2 years.
You sound like an insecure dumpsterslut. Did daddy tell you boys don't like fat girls? When he fucked you, did you go the face tattoo or choker route? Please refrain from telling me how painless your septum piercing was. I dated enough women raised by hippie moms, I know all about it.
David Ortiz
Ok maybe corrected wasn't the right word. But that first screenshot is clearly her elaborating on the fact that it wasn't just her working on the project.
Eli Evans
'I'd like to thank God, my parents, and everyone involved' Ya, okay. Lol
Chase Bennett
I'm not complaining that being a white guy is hard.... but there are a lot of times where you just have to shake your head silently and let shit slide off you. We've had it good lads. We still have it good. Let the women and minorities have their accolades here and there.
Thomas Wright
Nice head cannon faggot. Got any more cool and hip anime storylines stored up there in that old noggin of yours?

He never did. Just steals them from plebbit
Lucas Ross
>Why does this bother me?
Because of people like this:
Sebastian Ortiz
So where were you on D-Day, neckbeard?
In my personal opinion it's pretty pathetic to claim the courage of others for yourself but I guess that's just a neckbeard thing.
I don't think you're sincere. White men are already raised being taught that. Goes without saying: we see our fathers act that way with mothers, we are taught that in how white people court one another, hell it's part of white culture. I can tell you that Scots focus on who the little person is, and lifting them up. Root for the underdog. So when I read/hear shit like what you just contributed: it reeks of an outsider. You are either a fraud, or too culturally dense to weigh in.
Daniel Cruz
this is nothing new, it has been done with men before, the only difference is that some feminists do it now and it's more politically loaded because of that the criticism of assigning success to an individual when it was a collective effort now taking more recognition only means that some boys are mad at feminists again and only taking the right stance because "fuck women", not because they'd be principled on this matter but of course feel free to prove me wrong next time around media puts some guys face up front who gets all credit from what i read she herself said it was a team effort, so props to her, she's awesome, just fuck media and how they feel the need to do this shit every fucking time against these people wish
Jackson Nguyen
I guess I must be culturally dense then... lean something new every day!!!
Joshua Jones
A thank you to the group is not going to compensate for the first few waves of articles containing a narrative that this was never going to happen without her.

It's literally nothing. At this stage in the state of media nobody new is convinced anymore. Those who eat this up will have eaten it up anyway. Those who know that it was a team effort amongst several people know it's bullshit. Nothing changes.
Michael Richardson
>80% of the code Lol these numbers you pull out of your assistance keep changing all the time. You don't care about the truth or proper recognition proportional to contribution, you're just triggered some bitch got attention and are spewing whatever lie you can think of to try to drag her down.
Justin Jenkins
Old news bro
It's just that journalists dont do actually research or journalism anymore. They got called out on it and instead of being responsible redacting the story and admitting to the mistake they stuck to their guns and played the sexism card.
They should probably stop getting their stories from social media.

Did the jokes about septum piercings and chokers get to you? That's when you know it's an insecure woman. Maybe it was the hippie mom thing. Don't worry, they got theirs. I'm all about free love too.
Joseph Mitchell
It's hilarious how many people are so quick to believe anything that could make dr. bouman seem less competent. It only shows how much inherent sexism there still is w.r.t. women in STEM. I'm not saying the media doesn't oversaturate the women in tech narrative to the point where it gets annoying, but these conservacucks get so damn triggered by it. You think she's not as smart as the media makes her out to be? Here's her work on seeing around corners using the diffraction off the edge as a lens. youtube.com/watch?v=7NhQ7WkbHms
Juan Myers
Didnt she rape her sisters multiple times by her own admission? They should ask her sister what its like to be attacked
Juan Cook
Lol kid, I'm not the user you were talking to OR a woman but keep thinking you look smart and cool flailing at that strawman. Tooootally doesn't just reek of insecure internet toughguy.
Jordan Davis
Get your Yea Forums buzzwords in order retard.Neckbeards currently infest the left wing.
Matthew Perez
Bruh, my phone keeps recommending clickbait articles on her, but my phone thinks i'm a filthy liberal so they all push that narrative. News is so pandering it pushes whichever angle fits their agenda/the agenda of their readers and gets them clicks. Just think of ways to fight ALL fake news, and advocate for journalism to be neutral.
Also a side note/rant i have nowhere else to vent at currently, i got an article implying viking shield maidens have not been an accepted fact for centuries and tries to say "yes, warrior women actually existed, even though the patriarchy SWEARS it's not possible. Though we dont know if they lived as men or women" This obvious twisting to push a "big victory for feminism" shit TRULY irks me.
Landon Ortiz
Heck it's not even like all the credit getting focused on one person is anything new. It happens with almost every discovery. Notice, however, that that's not what trolls are triggered by. They're not ranting about this problem in general or the politics of assigning credit while simplifying things for normie consumption. They're just absolutely butt-devestated that it happened to fall to a girl this time.
Thomas James
Never said you were a woman. How insecure you got to be to make shit up? I know, about dumpsterslut level. There, now you're a woman.
Colton Morris
So I love space shit as much as the next guy, but what can we do now with this image?
Caleb Reed
And yet the average picture /pol/ meetup looks like they somehow merged every stereotype about amerimutts with every stereotype about basement dwelling neckbeards. Plenty of libcucks manage to grow actual beards too, to the point that oversensitive /pol/tards are now trying to rebrand beards as feminine numale bs because they let libs live in their brains rent free and ruin thing by mere vague association. If libs started to be pro monogamy and loyalty then you reactionary tards would all be scrambling over yourself to embrace cuckholding as Le based manliness.
Levi Howard
Send it to aliens as Earth's greatest woman. Idk who else could make that many people's life work insignificant. Let's be real. This was going to be a swansong for a lot of them in their respective fields.
I am not a virgin. I've had sex 2 1/2 times but I'm not sure about the 2.
Gavin Collins
eww look at these freaks
Sebastian Rogers
Thanks
Anyone with knowledge on the subject actually itt? I'm more interested in the potential prospects of the project that whatever pettiness there is.
Gavin Wood
Them dude probably got drunk as fuck that night and had a blast hanging out.
Asher Price
Well first of all, now we have a confirmed way of imaging things using a constructed array of telescopes across earth as a giant lens. This could be used to see all sorts of objects that we couldn't see before. As far as the black holes are concerned, I'm not sure whether this data is high enough resolution to confirm or deny any theories yet, but we should be able to tell whether our predictions of what happens in gigantically strong gravity wells due to Einsteinian physics is correct. We should also be able to tell how fast the black hole is rotating and warping spacetime due to the blue and red shifting off the "bright" and "dark" sides of the image, which could give us insight into the mechanics of black hole formation or galactic formation, as the speed of rotation would directly lead to a conclusion about how much angular momentum was transferred from the galactic matter that fell into the black hole. There's probably a lot more but I'm not an astrophysicist.
Christopher Ross
My understanding from a buddy who is in college for comp sci is that it serves the same purpose as being able to see protein structure. The geometry is important, and so the image is a visual expression of science, using scientific theories, to help better grasp more complex concepts. Maybe helps with black hole/ dark matter research?
Thomas Myers
>Never said you were a woman. How insecure you got to be to make shit up? >Did the jokes about septum piercings and chokers get to you? That's when you know it's an insecure woman And in response to the previous user that you thought I was >You sound like an insecure dumpsterslut. Did daddy tell you boys don't like fat girls? When he fucked you, did you go the face tattoo or choker route? Please refrain from telling me how painless your septum piercing was. I mean, are you litterally retarded? Did you forget that this is Yea Forums and anyone can just follow the reply chain and read the posts? You were very clearly trying to claim that all the people making fun of you for being insecure were just women and the REEL insecure ones. This tactic is called attacking a strawman, with a little schoolyard "I'm rubber and you're glue" thrown in, and is something you do when you're an insecure coward too weak and stupid to attack someone directly so you attack a defenseless imaginary person you made up as a stand-in to help you feel better.
So to recap, I'm not a woman, that user almost certainly isn't either, neither my gf nor any of my female family members wear chokers or have septum piercings and your weirdly specific obsession with those traits and hippie mothers are transparently embarrassingly just your own personal insecurities projected outward.
Adrian Lewis
It's not her fault. It's because to ideologues, EVERYTHING has to be about ideology. If a single woman hasd been involved with the project, she should get sole credit. If no women had been involved, that's of course 'problematic'.
Best to ignore the screathings of these ideologues, and congratulate the entire team, including the woman in question, on their feat.
Jack Hill
because they show her face and not her work. The way she's sitting in disbelief like a puppy with a new toy is retarded too.
Gj obviously, but it's sort of virtue-signaling.
Blake James
Being this serious about cheeky comments is fun and all, but did you forget that you're on Yea Forums?
Isaac Perez
The more we know about black holes the better. Galaxies and the universe at large are guided by them. If we make it off this rock to a glorious sci-fi empire when the stars finally died black holes will be the only sources of life giving energy left.
Carson Gonzalez
>fakenews feminists are pushing the narrative no they aren't. get back in your hole you retard incel faggot. this is being reported on just like every other scientific discovery in the last 500 years, with the primary author getting the headlines. you're just butthurt because this time it's a woman.
Nathaniel Butler
Great analogy. I mean, just think about it in these simple terms; how much harder is it to learn about something when you can't observe it compared to when you can?
Kevin Parker
>i refuse to refute anything in this post >its Yea Forums faggot deal with it lol Sounds good man. Have a good afternoon.
Isaiah Ross
>is so insecure that he writes a fucking novel on Yea Forums >accuses others of being insecure
James Cook
>primary author
This is bait.
Xavier Young
Oh ya, you know it. Chiral/achiral cocaine is a perfect example of how important shape is.
Camden Sanchez
>J-joke's on you I was just pretending to be retarded! >I'm rubber and you're glue and YOU'RE the one who forgot we're on Yea Forums! WEW... kid... This is just embarrassing. Just quit while you're behind, your desperate flailing attempts to save face are exponentially more cringe than your initial insecure strawmanning and projection.
Lucas Davis
I've been chatting with a few in this post. I just like talking shit with people who like talking shit. I used deflection and ad hominem. Don't think I straw manned, didn't go for it if I did. Triple threat doe.
Xavier Jenkins
>Reading more than one sentence makes muh brain hurt! How'd you slip away from your retard Wrangler? Don't get caught shitposting again or you might lose tendies privilege!
Andrew Rogers
Pretending to be retarded? Nah, just talking shit. Ever get drunk with your boys, and start riffing on how whipped your buddy is? No? Must be an insecure woman.
Cooper Ortiz
Yo, you wrote that love letter to me, and I didn't even read it. Did my response work?
Lincoln Jackson
>*Says incorrect thing* >That's incorrect >I-I KNOW I was just letting joking Sorry kid but that's the definition of pretending to be retarded. Maybe just lurk more so you can "get" these memes and while you're at it you can work on your clearly severe issues with women and your mother.
Liam Davis
Lol you are really hung up on some zesty-at-best words. Sounds like insecurity of the most feminine variety, but of the lowest social quality. This lack of propriety, an unacceptable quality, does not make the man, but builds effeminancy.
Sebastian Kelly
What about claiming the victimization of others like blacks and reparations?
Luke Ward
can you people just call things what they are, the word meme is fucking retarded.
you ARE aware she didnt even work on the algorithm responsible for the picture yes? you ARE aware she worked with part of the file formatter that was completely optional yes? you ARE aware that andre chael wrote 850k out of 900k lines of code for the algorithm yes? you ARE aware that there were around 20 other female scientists working on the project doing actual work and research that made the picture possible yes?
Julian Cox
so nobody is going to talk about andy sixx's log of shit???
Normie friend from work along with a few other separate people have shared this post from this feminist media page with clear bias with the simple intention of spreading the good news. If you actually click onto the original post and read the comments there's a whole host of people either taking this at face value or taking it as an opportunity to hate on guys. With a small minority of people talking about how the original image isn't quite accurate. They're being met with some pretty harsh comments and/or people straight up lying to support the original poster. Although I can't not mention the fact that there are some people on there also spreading false information the other way. trying to discredit her, which is also wrong.
The news did no such thing. It's common in the science world for a team lead to get credit. It's been like this a long time. Feminists complain a lot about accomplishments in astronomy by women (of which there are a lot) that they don't get credit for because the lead was a male.
It's not a big deal.. the original news article alone was nothing new at all. Thing happens, team lead gets credit, look we have a picture of a black hole now.
The only people making a huge deal was the comment sections, followed by incels who went the fuck to work dissecting the entire thing to prove a woman didn't achieve more than them with their greasy Cheeto fingers.
Chill tf out. We have a picture of a motherfucking black hole. Depending if you're nerdy enough, that's fucking awesome End of story.
Justin Rivera
The reason they aren't is because of the way men and women develop. Men with an aptitude (science or math) will usually be mentally pidgeonholed into it. Specialised and unrounded. That's just male biology.
A female of the same ability level will also possess social and emotional intelligence. They tend to have a lot more options. That's why there's less women in shit like this. The males have no choice. The women do. So they naturally disperse more.
Source Jordan Peterson actually.
Brody Bailey
I read them and as a programmer myself I think she had the easiest job. I would way rather have her easy job than to be in the trenches like he was writing 99% of the code. It was a team effort tho but anyone that puts her pic up at all and only her needs to fuck off, she didn't do shit
Luis Barnes
yeah except she didn't lead. that's the thing. It's just her picture went viral and the media is pushing her like its crack and even running the angle that her name isn't being mentioned enough as a way to get people to share her around and to beat, and i use this lightly, straw-man male patriarchy for not pushing her/women enough. Then anyone that doesn't wholeheartedly suck the story's ass gets a beat down for being un-supportive of women's achievements.
Lucas Morgan
Because you're a sexist retard. Mind your own fucking business there is no threat to white men like you perceive.
Nolan Morales
That's whole lot of assumption. Mind backing it up?
Andrew Smith
>He wrote 80- no 90- no 99% of the code! Lol come on, you don't care about this guy or how much code he wrote, you're just using him as a prop to virtue signal about fairness to justify you being triggered about a woman getting attention for something.
Tyler Gonzalez
>you ARE aware that andre chael wrote 850k out of 900k lines You ARE aware that's a lie that the guy himself has debunked, right? You just latched onto some number, not caring to verify if it was true, because it appealed to your feels.
Tyler Bennett
Just go at night. Not as hot then.
Alexander Ramirez
No I'm using him to prove a point that this girl did jack shit to merit the exposure she got. I am mad that the typical lying media is pretending like this "strong" woman did all the work but its only further from the truth. They need to fuck off about women in the tech field because they don't belong, and they never will join it. The ones who do, great now fuck off about feminism and do your job. Nah, those numbers are accurate. She honestly didn't write much at all, maybe some stuff to pull it together but that wasn't much and probably the easiest.
Jaxon Sanders
Dude, I feel like you're not a programmer. There's a huge difference between coding some grunt code, and coding the actual important code. Like, that 0.26% or whatever percent of the code was probably deliberated on by a team of PHDs for over a year. All the rest of the code relies on those small, but very important bits.
Using the amount of code in a project as a metric for the amount of work done is silly, and very reductive. Yes, this was a team effort. People saying otherwise are deluding themselves. Katie was one part of the team, and definitely not solely responsible. I doubt she would ever claim that. However, her role was extremely important, and that should not be diminished either, especially to promote some Male vs. Female political agenda.
Honestly, who cares? What does it matter who did what? I'm just excited for the scientific community, the rest of this shit doesn't matter.
Thomas Watson
>tips fedora Nah m'dude, neckbeards infest all of Yea Forums
Nathan Garcia
op here. Pretty much this. Take the way i'm phrasing this with a pinch of salt, but just get the jist of what im saying. I don't like one side pushing her as the main person that masterminded and made this whole thing happen, because that's not the case. And I also don't like the other side who is trying to discredit her for doing, on paper, a small amount of work. Because, as i'm sure we all know, quantity doesn't equal quality. And everyone involved in this project has sat down and put years of work, and their life into this amazing bit of science. I'm just sick of the identity politics being played by the media to both cause conflict on the subject and to push an agenda. It's mind games within mind games. And it gets to me that the people who don't really pay much attention to the subject, and rightly so, just eat up the news titles and go, huh, what a cool thing, whilst establishing that in their mind as being the truth and something to base conversation and ideas on. The nuance to this whole situation is hard to put into words and we should be able to just say, yeah we did a cool thing today. Well done people. But its a little more complicated than that. And I feel like if these discussions don't happen, then, and I could be making a slippery slope fallacy here, but it would be easier and easier for the media and the people who consume it to shape the way we see the world. And laying back and just accepting that just doesn't sit right with me.
Angel Cooper
>Dude, I feel like you're not a programmer Are you fucking retarded? I'm a computer science major and I'm going to be starting full time when I graduate in May making $80k starting. >percent of the code was probably deliberated on by a team of PHDs for over a year. All the rest of the code relies on those small, but very important bits. Duh, I'm saying it's a team effort but we are talking 850k+ lines of code added alone from one guy and about 110k+ deletions. That's alot of work. She just tied together these libraries with is honestly way easier. >However, her role was extremely important, and that should not be diminished either, especially to promote some Male vs. Female political agenda. Her role was no more important than any other person and hell I'd say less important than others. She should not be getting recognized unless it's in a team context. > Honestly, who cares? What does it matter who did what? I'm just excited for the scientific community, the rest of this shit doesn't matter. I do you stupid libtard. It's propaganda plain and simple. Fuck off you non-programming neet. Fuck off op, your gut was right. The jews need to be roped along with all the snakes in the industry. This other fag isn't even a programmer, probably some underage fag from plebbit.
