I think it's because the young ones are the only ones stupid enough to sign their lives away, which in turn just leads to the record companies squeezing every penny they can out of them until they lose their value and get tossed aside like 95% of the other young artists of the past 15 years.

I work in the film industry (bitch jobs, but good jobs) and the thing I've noticed is that like every young person in a significant position has a parent who already works in the industry in some higher positions (Camera Operators, Art Directors, Producers, Etc)
so, in other words, most of the music/film "stars" you see actually never busted a sweat in their life and were born into their success and fame...

Her family has some pretty big connections and threw a lot of money at it so a development team created her concept and there were deals made to cut in multiple entertainment groups to push resources her way. over 24 other girls who had development deals were dropped to push the resources to her. its not uncommon, everyday thing. but dont get me wrong her look was a big part of it. if she was ugly, wouldnt have happened. this happens constantly . when i was an a&r guy looking for acts for my producers we looked at hot girls with maybe a little talent that we could just market, and if they had money to back them to start from family. huuuuuuuuuuuge plus. just how the business is.

I haven't listened to the radio since I was on a bus in highschool, can't name a single top 40 hit for the past 5 or so years and what retarded trends come and go in the music industry have zero effect on me.
