How would some horrible serial rapist be a sympathetic or interesting character? What would the story be about? This episode is not literally "OOGA BOOGA WYPIPO BAD," it has a compelling plot. It owes a lot to Stephen King's Desperation (which has nothing to do with race). You could have done the same plot with a deranged small-town cop and any family of outsiders. The race element makes it more relevant and believable to people who aren't so immediately triggered though--black people driving through a rural white town are more likely to be pulled over than some out-of-town white people.
You are just objecting to the premise, as if you haven't even watched it. You might as well say the Adam Scott episode was pro-terrorism.

There have been thousands of all-white movies, hundreds of directors who didn't cast black actors, and a black director coming along and saying "hey, maybe I'll make movies about only black people, see how you like it then" IS the backlash you are talking about. The white version of this already happened for 50 years.
Luckily, the problem solves itself. A handful of popular black directors will never be able to erase all white actors and artists from cinema. Getting mad about a handful of black movies makes you look pretty pathetic when there is still a pantheon of famous white people, and always will be. A couple Spike Lees and Jordan Peeles just make extreme declarations to make a point, you whine and scream, and they feast on your tears. That's the worst thing that can happen to you because of this.

My point was that the episode was political and bashing a stereotypical racist cop who wants to kill an innocent, upstanding black folks.
